I don’t th8nk so. We’re in legitimate “distraction” territory. This very well could become a big distraction for his football team, causing them to squander a great opportunity. Why risk that just to troll? I think it’s more likely that Lane hasn’t fully made up his mind yet. Or, he has, and he’s gone but wants to finish things at Ole Miss. I’m leaning toward undecided, though.

It's not dumb to go make a legitimate offer to the #1 candidate for your coaching position. Sometimes you get them and sometimes you don't. We are swinging for Lane. We've taken a good cut, we'll find out if we connect or not.

There's nothing dumb about that. It's how coaching searches work. If you are trying to hire away a rival coach who has a team outperforming yours, it's an uphill climb.

The good news is if Lane tells LSU no, then we pivot to another really good coach that will want to be here. We literally have nothing to lose.

It definitely is a troll for somebody. Just don’t know who.

It is a troll. The question is who is he trolling?

Why the hell would we look dumb for offering an open position to someone? I don’t get this insecure bs like we look dumb because someone chose to stay somewhere they’ve been for 6 years. If he stays then we move on to the next candidate. Big freaking deal.
