Sure. Take off the illegals.

Drug test them, I guess.

You want to stop the waste fraud and abuse in that system?

1-Make them non-transferable, and contain your photo, just like a freaking Costco membership.
2-Encrypt the cards
3-Only allow single ingredient foods.

Number 3 is the most important. You stop subsidizing Coca Cola and Frito Lay and make these things a luxury, there will be a disincentive to mass produce fake food. Always, always follow the money.

You will incentivize healthy farming methods. I would much rather have the government buying food grown regeneratively and with health as a top priority- than subsidizing Little Debbie to make more food chemistry experiments.

You want bread and cookies- fricking bake them.

No beverages - except milk and bottled water.

There is no reason you should be able to obtain Doritos using government money.

Wanna take the fraud out? Put the Nutrition back into Supplemental Nutrition Assistance.

ETA-
3.5 - EBT and SNAP but retailers should be limited to retailers that are grocery stores.

Snap is so bad.

Wait till people realize we spend 10x on veterans who sprained their ankle driving a truck in the USA, never seen combat, and we're paying this for life.

Agree on the junk, make folks have to get healthy Ingredients. It's not hard to have cheap and healthy meals, even if you're not some gourmet. Tonight we had chicken breasts with salad and sweet potatoes. For two of us that's like $5 total and was very tasty.

I like your suggestions, Wednesday!

Especially the "non transferable, photo on the card like Costco"

Actually, all three ideas are great- but I especially like #1

A couple of recent board suggestions

Good: disallow voting while on welfare

Best: don’t give them cash cards, give them MRE’s

But alas, that makes to much sense

there is so much money being spent to keep these on snap you could make a movie out of it.

I swear the cola co's are paying people to spam the comment section on social media that taking junk food out of snap will result in kids not having birthday cake.

Someone on a few months of help in between jobs doesn't bother me... maybe there could be a limit, like, over half of the previous 12months? Good idea though- our Federalist/Anti-Federalist definitely pointed out the obvious error in letting those without to vote to rob others blind.

Theoretically awesome- but we can’t even stop mail in ballots from Alzheimer’s patients.

Stop government funded junk food and we solve a shite ton of problems.

That's because non subsidized households aren't the ones buying that overpriced and chemical laden crap.

I once owned a section 8 apartment complex. Would look in cabinets and refrigerators when I went to make repairs. Full of sodas, candy and chips. Not to mention beer, zero veggies fresh produce, etc. Make snap only healthy food, period. How do you think those 300lb mamas that are on TV complaining got that way? Not eating salad.

Make people re-apply every year and limit what is given out and for how long.

Wednesday/OP - great post

You’ve summarized a major piece of this that cuts it off at the head. But now a days. There will still be consumers for the junk, but I think it moves us in the right direction.

Because it also makes the welfare queens and familes not having DIABETES at age 9

This goes in many ways towards the right direction.

Did a great job delivering this aspect

Already happens (or is supposed to)

quote:

SNAP recipients must requalify through a process called recertification, which typically happens every six to twelve months, depending on their household's specific circumstances and state. Some households with earned income or frequent changes may need to recertify more often, while certain individuals, like older or disabled recipients, may have longer certification periods, such as 24 months.

Quarterly, excluding permanently disabled and elderly is the way to go.
