It’s a verse that is often ignored by the folks who think we have to give everything to the freeloaders.

Out of 2Thessalonians:

quote:

In fact, when we were with you, we instructed you that if anyone was unwilling to work, neither should that one eat. We hear that some are conducting themselves among you in a disorderly way, by not keeping busy but minding the business of others. Such people we instruct and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to work quietly and to eat their own food.

In other words - if you can work and choose not to, you should go hungry and if you’re busy being a Karen, mind your own damn business.

You forgot the rest of the passage:

“and assume that everyone below you in society is bad and useless and should be punished, as God assumes about all the rest of His children.”

Remember the saying that "Liberals think you're a bad person because you have the wrong ideas, conservatives just think you have bad ideas?"

I presume most of us are like me, in that I have zero opinion of your moral character until I've at least spent 15 minutes talking to an individual. Unless you vape. Then you're a dirtbag.

KJV:
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.

True

How do you see it for those that cannot work, are hungry, or without shelter?

Such a clown. Who helped the needy more that Jesus himself? No one.

The difference here is mandated taxation (IE income redistribution) vs willing donations.

Go investigate what happens when taxes are reduced. Personal donations go up.

For those who truly cannot work we (not the government but we Christians) have a responsibility to help them. We should be the Samaritan.

Nowhere, ever did Jesus say Rome needs to take care of the poor by confiscating property and redistributing it to the poor after Rome takes 70% off the top of

this is more Marxist drivel.

Collective charity aint charity. Its forced, at the penalty of jail time. If you want to help the poor, get your arse out there and find a family to help.

I have a 17 year old girl living with us that isnt related to me. I took her in because both parents re dead, and the grandparents she lived with passed away this year. I get zero money to help, and the two girls (my granddaghter and her) are expensive. Hell we have a school trip to Germany in spring plus college trips.

Your collective charity is fake. You get zero credit for it. If you want to help the poor, shut your mouth and go do it.

As I see it, it’s incumbent on us as Christians to help those in need and not lazily rely on the government to take care of them.

Despite liberal ideals, the government is not some giant charity
