It's like a ratchet/dial that you tighten the metal laces.

Thinking about getting a pair. No more slip ons allowed at work.

I have wading boots with that. They’re pretty great.

They are.no bueno in sand wading, order extra laces and have a stand by pair of boots. Laces will fail eventually.

Only use them in freshwater.

Bought a pair of redwings with the boa system on them about 4 months ago. So far I like them a lot. My biggest concern would be them failing while I'm in the back country - would be a pain to "fix." For that reason I limit them to work only. Super convenient though and I like the way they feel.

Just tossed my pair of Ariat with the boa system last week. They’re “ok” but don’t beat a good lace up. The cable came out of the crank one day and I had to pull everything apart and Jerry rig it so I could finish the work day. The Ariat brand boots DO NOT breathe worth a shite. Went back to the twisted x lace ups. Feels like I’m wearing a tennis shoe again.

My hunting boots have this .
Cabela’s boa speed hunter or something like that.
I’ve Had them for probably 10years . Had to replace one of the mechanisms a couple years ago but I love them. So much easier than laces .

Had Red Wings with the Boa system a few years ago. Perfect fit every day. The Boa system outlasted the rest of the boot.

I had a pair of North Face shoes with that system a long time ago. Thought it was pretty neat, and I had never seen anything like it before. Fast forward about 15 years and that is the norm for cycling shoes. I've got a couple pair for my Peloton and Mountain Bike. It is a great lacing system, but I wouldn't want it on a pair of boots.
