You can't post anything about Gilligan's Island without asking the question.

Team Mary Ann. Never really got into redheads, thanks to Flo from Mel's Diner.

Mary Ann would be my pick, but she’s too short for me. Ginger it is.

Yep. Me too. Tina Louise (Ginger) is the only one still living.

You can promise useful idiots anything and they will believe you. You just need a messenger with charisma.

Mary Ann. All day. Every day.

4 tidbits:

1) Jayne Mansfield was almost cast as Ginger.

2) Raquel Welch was almost on the show, too, but they were considering her for the role of Mary Ann. Imo, Raquel Welch would've been the perfect Ginger.

3) The woman who played Ginger, Tina Louise, was unhappy for the entire run of the show, because she claimed that the producers told her the show would revolve around her. Bob Denver mentioned that once, and said "You would've thought she could've known by the title of the show that she wasn't going to be the central character."

4) "Gilligan's Island" was supposed to run at least one more year. But CBS had nitially canceled "Gunsmoke." The President of CBS, William Paley (sp?) and his wife Babe were both huge fans of Gunsmoke, and they forced CBS to put Gunsmoke back on the Fall lineup. As a result of that, Gilligan's Island and another show were canceled to make room for the western. Obtw, Gunsmoke ran for another 8 seasons.

I knew the brother of guy who was driving the car in which she was killed somewhere along the beach in Mississippi headed to New Orleans. Fog I think made the 18 wheeler in front of them not visible Terrible tragedy.

It was a terrible tragedy. I always thought they were driving between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, but maybe I heard it wrong. It was definitely some serious fog that caused the wreck, though.

Girl next door Maryanne's (although gorgeous) are a dime a dozen.
Tall sexy beautiful redheads are rare. Ginger wins!

Mary Ann by a mile. Ginger looks like Taylor Swift. MA looks like Evangeline Lily. I'll take the cute brunette any day of the week.

5. Dawn Wells was the only actor who had the forsight to put royalties from syndication into her contract. At the time, syndication was a thing. At one point in time, Gilligan's Island was so syndicated, there was always an episode airing somewhere in the world.

It actually occurred on Chef Menteur Hwy, just across the Rigolets bridge headed south to New Orleans East. There is a shrine on the side of the highway to this day.

I didn't know that. Good for her.

Dawn Wells was taken out by Covid, IIRC. The first one, which was the worst one and attacked the lungs and made breathing especially difficult. Especially for older people, and Dawn was 82 by that time.
