It was a stretch of highway between New Orleans East and the Gulf Coast. I believe it was Chef Menteur Hwy. Jayne Mansfield's daughter is actress, Mariska Hargitay who was a baby at the time and I believe was in the vehicle. She obviously survived.

The wreck was in Boutee. Happened when I was young and spooked us. I used to think about it every time we went through there on the way to Grand Isle to fish the surf. Tragic end for an extraordinary woman.

I had to look up the location. I'm from North Louisiana, or as Edwin Edwards used to call it, Southern Arkansas*.
(He could've at least said we were East Texans). But anyway, for those who don't know, Boutee is located 27 miles West of downtown New Orleans.
* Speaking of Arkansas, I just read where former LSU Head Coach Ed Orgeron is "officially in the mix" for the Arkansas job. I wonder how Arkansas fans feel about that? (Yeah, I know this is a random comment).
