So, four more years after this one.

Sounds like Drink and his agent are shopping for a longer deal because he won't get much more than $9M a year...

If you are a HC with moderate success and at a school that currently likes you, NOW is the market to try to leverage a better contract.

Florida, LSU, Arkansas, Auburn, Penn St. are all in the market for a "championship coach" (well, maybe not Arkansas). Smart, Day, Deboer, Cignetti, Elko, Lanning, etc, etc, aren't leaving their current jobs. That means the pool of "acceptable" candidates for those schools is pretty small.

If the agents are trying to get their client locked up longer are they doing their job?

Drinkwitz is not worth 10 million a year, lol. He may have priced himself out of the market in a lot of places.

I agree with your sentiment. His agent is smart to try and do this, but I don’t think the market for 10 million dollar a year Drinkwitz will be in high demand. At that point if you are one of those schools you’d better off doing your due diligence to find a cheaper option based on fit.

The only thing that determines what a coach is with6 is the market and I can promise you the market will have his level of coach at 10m after all these hires are done

That is true. I agree with that statement. Coaches are worth what a team is willing to pay for him. That determines the market. So I guess I should say LSU doesn’t think Drinkwitz is worth 10 million a year, lol. No way we pay him that much to come to LSU. Some other fools can do that.

I’m surprised Drink is getting this attention and noones talking about the other SEC east coach who was reportedly on our shortlist last go around….stoops

Both are pretty gross options

If you are looking at Drinkwitz and Stoops you’d be better off taking a chance on a coordinator or a young coach for a lot less money.
