LSU has handed Kelly’s lawsuit over to the state attorney general’s office.

Now the taxpayers are involved.
Good going, Landry. What an absolute moron. 80-83 IQ range.

The taxpayers were always involved you all would just never admit it. Kelly sued the state not LSU. The Board of Supervisors is a State agency.

When is the last time a single tax payer cent went towards LSU athletics?

Standard procedure probably.

Landry signed House Bill 639 raising the state’s online sports betting tax rate from 15% to 21.5%. The law, which will go into effect on Aug. 1, mandates 25% of the tax revenue from sports wagering to be allocated toward a new fund. The fund, the Supporting Programs, Opportunities, Resources and Teams Fund (SPORT Fund), supports student-athletes at public NCAA Division 1 programs in the state. The institutions receiving a portion of the proceeds include LSU, Louisiana Tech and McNeese State.
Under the law, the tax revenue will be distributed to 11 college athletic departments by the Board of Regents, with the tax revenue used for a variety of men’s and women’s sports.
The tax revenue will be used to support scholarships, insurance and medical coverage and facility upgrades. HB 639 prohibits the tax revenue to be used for NIL payments to student-athletes despite a federal judge recently signing an order allowing schools to pay athletes.

When was the last time LSU owed a $54 MILLION buyout to anybody?
If the TAF had the money available for Kelly's buyout and another coach's salary none of this would be happening. Even Moscona of all people is finally acknowledging these facts today.

never but “tax payer money” keeps every other public college program in this state going to the tune of at least that amount, every single year.

So a small percentage of the income generated from sports betting
Hardly the “taxpayers footing the bill”.

BK sued the Board which is effectively the state. They have to include the state attorney general’s office.

I didn't claim taxpayers would foot the bill. You asked when a single taxpayer cent has gone towards LSU athletics so I provided an example.

Congrats on providing an example that has nothing to do with the football program, Brian Kelly or any money owed to him, which is what’s being discussed. I guess.

Just signed into law in August 2025. Board of Regents do not even show this fund exists at the present moment and no funds have been disbursed yet.

Ironically, an example that probably hasn’t actually provided any funding to LSU athletics yet, considering the tax just went into effect 3 months ago.
Also somewhat ironically, an example that only exists because Jeff Landry himself signed it into law earlier this year.
I can say this with confidence - LSU athletics have not reported a cent of direct state or institutional funding since at least 2004. And only stopping at 2004 because that’s as far back as the NCAA financial reports go on LSU’s website.
