Does Scott Woodward have the power to fire anyone without approval from the BOS first?

The BOS is saying Scott Woodward didn't have the power to fire BK without permission.

Not sure how all this works but is that true at every institution? That the active AD can't fire anyone without approval.

Well the BOS has to give final approval to any coaching contract, therefore I'd assume it makes sense that the BOS has to approve firing a coach as well.

At least we have our cause in the Scott Woodward case.

No buyout for you Scott!

Epitome of irony dude leaves schools with millions upon millions of buyouts in his wake and he gets nothing

Not saying I agree with the BOS but if that in fact did happen does the (fired for cause) have merit?

It is still a shite show either way but we are here now thanks to Gomer Powell ( aka JL)

LSU Release Statement

I am grateful for the ongoing consultations and support of the LSU Board of Supervisors and Interim President Matt Lee in this decision.

They held a freaking press conference with Board Members to discuss the firing.

They absolutely gave Woodward permission and probably pushed for the decision to happen.

LSU is a clown show.

I don't claim to know how the inner workings of this sordid mess really work, but I can't imagine that the backers that come across with the big bucks would give anyone free reign to make big moves without their input, it sounds like Landry's meddling got Woody canned, my sauces say that Woody is well respected in those cirlces and had strong backing from the big money people

I'm trying to catch up........is LSU now claiming that Woodward didn't actually have the authority to fire BK? A week and a half later......after LSU held press conferences and put out official releases about the staff changes.

What a fricking clown show

But I would think that the BOS approval would probably be required when the person the AD is trying to fire has a contract with a $54M buyout clause.

At this rate, I wouldn’t be surprised. This is what happens when things aren’t planned and done irrationally.

Well, there were reports of meetings with the BOS and Jeff Landry himself before the firing so it’s hard to believe. There’s also a press release that specifically states the BOS was consulted.

Not “anyone.” Just high level contract employees.

Where was this said? Did they say that before or after they had a press conference to discuss the hiring of the replacement for the guy who wasn't fired?
