Kelly is not coaching again

It’s pretty clear that Brian Kelly has no intention of coaching again. It he did he would negotiate a settlement to get a lump sum and his next coaching gig wouldn’t be deducted from it. This tells me he has no intention of ever coaching again. This is kind of fitting too with all the rumors of how little he actually did coaching wise. He was already one foot into retirement.

1. Burger King doesn't have too anymore.
2. Glad Burger King is not on the LSU sidelines anymore.
3. Burger King mentally left the LSU program some time last year.

That’s what makes the contract so bad.

Doesn’t need to; he’s a millionaire for sucking LSU a few years.

I think he wants to coach but his agent made some calls and had no takers.

Schedule A, Section 3(B) Duty to Mitigate
"Duty to Mitigate. In the event of termination by LSU without cause, the amount of liquidated damages owed by LSU under this Section shall be reduced and extinguished by and to the extent of any compensation Employee earns, receives, or is entitled to receive for football-related employment, whether intercollegiate or professional, including coaching, administration or media, from any third party from the termination date until LSU's obligation pursuant to this Section to Employee terminates or ceases to exist. Employee shall exercise due diligence and good faith in seeking qualifying employment so long as the liquidated damage obligation exists. In the event Employee obtains such other employment, Employee must notify LSU and provide documentation reasonably requested by LSU to determine the amount of compensation received by Employee and the amount of offset due LSU."
He doesn't have a choice. If he isn't fired for cause, then he contractually has to seek employment in good faith as long as the buy out is being paid to him.

Exactly. This is LSU's minimum leverage, i.e. even if they don't take the cause route. It is suspicious as hell for BK rejecting a sweet lump sum $30 MM payment that would waive this obligation.
