Old man getting it done.
While many here claimed he was declining and should have been replaced a few years ago.
On his way to his 9th consecutive 100+ tackle season and 11th on his 14 year career.
Becoming one of the best FA signing in Saints history outside of Drew Brees. Apparently the Saints aren't the only team that let great players walk out the door.

I think a lot of people are worried that Mickey is about to give him a new extension with a fair market salary, knowing that the cliff will come one day. DD has commented that he wants to play 3 more years; don't know if that meant 3 years total 2025 - 2027, or he wants 3 more years 2026 - 2028.
There are some that look at the roster, see the age, and just assume they now suck. Not talking about those posters.

Oh yes they did. idk about you personally, but there were a few here that say Davis should have been replaced because he's old and losing it as recent as this this off season.
The posts are out there but I aint going looking for them because I read them and I just shook my head.

Is it many or a few?
“Many” would indicate the majority of people here said he was washed or to replace him.
There are always a few retards here. Let’s not cast their shite takes over the majority of the board. I can’t think of a more universally revered player on the team than Davis

I thought he looked terrible early in the season but the entire defense looks like they are starting to adjust to Staley's system, just need to build some consistency. But if Shough and the offense can get going some, that will help the defense out even more.
Demario looked absolutely amazing yesterday considering his age, dude was all over the field making tackles, getting off blocks, being in the right position in the passing lanes.

Yea he might have looked terrible but he’s been in the top 5 all season in defensive stats. Currently 2 with 91 tackles.

He's still playing at a GOOD level. He's also definitely lost a step, which started last season. Both of these can be true at the same time.
I don't recall reading anybody calling for his head either, especially not "a few years ago". Majority of posters wanted Pete Werner upgraded last season, and simultaneously to find a LB that can begin to replace Davis as his play will unavoidably decline with age and his real contract is up after '25 season. Though he does have void years & dead cap through 2029.
He is one of the all time free agent signings in Saints history.

It's funny we had a plus lb on the roster but we let him walk because Dennis Allen didn't know what to do... Sad
