I think this team and the playbook were built around Underwood as the starting QB. When Michigan came in with their big bid and got his commitment, Kelly and the staff went into damage control big time. What we have seen this season is the culmination of putting all your eggs in one basket. Nuss has been running an offense (for better or worse) not designed for an immobile gun slinger. To be fair, I like a pocket passer but you must have some mobility in the modern game (especially with an online like ours).

Underwood would't do shite behind this offensive line.

Anyone betting an entire season on a true freshman QB is retarded.

IF he had come here, Nuss still would have started

Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Joe Burrow, couldn't do squat behind this offensive line. Jayden Daniels? Maybe. MAYBE.

So they had time to build a playbook just for Bryce, but when they found out he wasn't coming, all the months after that was just damaged control and they couldn't change the offense to accommodate Nuss?

I don’t agree with you about the playbook, but you’ve touched on the problem. When BK had Underwood committed he thought he was set and his work was done at the QB position. When Underwood bolted we ended up with all our eggs in the Nuss basket. With catastrophic results.

Not really. The way too many screens is due to the poor running game at the LOS. They are a way to spread the field and effect a run. However, we go to the well way too many times.

Last night it became clear that Nuss has PTSD and cant process in the pocket. The sack where he retreated on a rush 3 in the RZ he had a clean pocket to step in to and a path to run forward if desired. MVB did so much better at this and even to his detriment in getting the ball slapped away but damn, he stood in the pocket.
