How long does it take for someone with all the resources at his disposal to learn English?

He speaks English, but why not just use an interpreter and make sure that everything is understood?

I don’t know why these guys use interpreters for as long as they do because they clearly don’t need to. Ichiro is a great example of this. He clearly didn’t need an interpreter but used one for years.

I wonder if it’s just a way to keep a friend around, if they’re bored and don’t have a strong network.

And before anyone says they use the interpreters to make sure nothing is said out of context, the US sports media of 2025 (or even 2000) is going to give the benefit of the doubt to anyone who is speaking English as their second (or third) language.
