Klieman at K State
Matt Campbell at Iowa State
Thoughts? Musings?

Josh Pate brought up Campbell.

I wonder about Campbell—has he hit a ceiling at ISU that doesn’t exist at LSU?
Sorta like CLM at OkSU.
ETA: 10 years as ISU HC but only 45 years old.

Campbell is a really good coach but there is a reason he keeps getting passed on bigger jobs. I dont know what it is - but it must be the extra crap that comes with these big jobs - certainly isnt X and O football.

They aren't bad but would be pretty underwhelming hires. I feel like there are better candidates that are attainable.

Cambell best fits the mold we used when hiring Saban and Miles.
Coach at a lesser school in a major conference (at least it was) that has overachieved based on school history. Hell, all 3 were at schools that were the lesser school in their own state.

he's turned down a lot more jobs than he's been passed over for.
said he would only leave iowast for nd or Ohio State. he did lose out to freeman for the nd job.
lsu could do a lot worse than campbell. it's who i would want if day left Ohio State.

I’m a big fan of Campbell. He’s been very successful with very few resources and has put a lot of lightly recruited guys in the NFL.
Also a fan of Lance Leopold at Kansas.
These two would be comparable to Nick Saban coming from Michigan St (minus the NFL experience) and Miles coming from Oklahoma St.
Our fan base was not excited about either hire, but there are a large number of success stories who weren’t the biggest available name.
