He must have an amazing resume as a Head Coach

How did the best resume turn out last time? Hire people, not resumes.

He's got zero head coaching wins, so there's that

Look I am kidding around here. I think you hire a good coach, it doesn't need to be someone with 20 years as a HC.

But Shep is not someone you hire at LSU. He has 9 games of coordinator experience. In the NFL at that, not even college

Lanning is the closest thing I could think of but he was a DC for 3 years, in College, under Kirby.

He has zero coaching losses. Undefeated!

Any hire is a risk, it's even more multiplied when the guy has no head coaching experience.

That said, I'd rather take that chance on someone like K Shep than Schumann or Will Stein.

Exactly what does anyone know about his ability to run a program like LSU? Do you really want to be 2 years out and saying boy he had no experience, why did we make that hire?

What was Kirby's resume before Georgia? What was Lanning's resume before Oregon?

They were at least coordinators for more than 6 months

Both were coaches for well over 10 years before being given a top job.. You guys wanna act like we just fired and paid off BK to bring in someone with less than 1 year of being a DC and 5 years of coaching experience. if this is a top tier A level job, you don't just bring guys in to learn on the job because former players want it.

Do you want Tbob to be the oline coach too?

Lanning was only a DC for 2 years before Oregon, and a CO-DC at that.

Three years. So still longer than Shep.

Like a UGA fan said this week, Lanning was calling the defense. That's why he got hired away to Oregon, and Kirby hired Muschamp as co-DC for a couple of years instead of fully handing the reins over to Schumann.

Anyone want to take a guess at Nick Sabans record at Michigan State before taking the LSU job? It wasn’t amazing.

Then bring on Glenn Schumann. I don't think LSU is bigger than being able to hire experienced coordinators.

Well why not Tyrann Matthieu then?

Obviously, that would be a terrible idea. But resumes do matter. I'm not totally opposed to Shep, but it would be a pretty big risk to take. Of course it'd come at a discount $ wise.
