Matt Rhule has signed one quietly.

Sexton definitely said hit pause on that.

So what you are saying is that Kiffin has had an extension offer on his agent’s desk for two weeks and he has yet to sign it?
Hmmmmm

Maybe he started working on it 14 days ago and isn’t finished yet so this doesn’t necessarily mean anything

Kiffin would be dumb to sign any extension. Even if he wants to stay there, the money will be much higher if florida and/or LSU are also making offers.

Of course he has been working on it. He has one of the hottest coaches and the coaching carousel has been rotating this year. He would not be doing his job if hadn’t started working on it yet.

Why would he hit pause? Let Ole Miss set the floor on the cost to hire him and go up from there. I.e. let Ole Miss offer him $13M (annualy) to stay in Oxford, then take that offer to the desperate donors in BR, Gainesville, or anywhere else and say "here's the number you have to beat".

The buyout is all that matters

Even if he wants to stay at Ole Miss, you continue to lead LSU and Florida on simply to drive Ole Miss's price as high as possible before ultimately deciding to stay at Ole Miss.

Not if Jeff Landry has anything to do with it according to what he just said on the Pat McAfee show.

quote:LSU and Florida are not the only "plum" positions to aspire to. He has a very real opportunity to make a run in the playoffs if he can keep people healthy. I would play Simmons more to make sure Chambliss doesn't get hurt. Chambliss is the straw that stirs the drink. I can't see anyone sitting in his position leaving now. Maybe or if they get put out but with the massive egos that HCs have, he knows he can make a deep run. Y 'all need to move on from Kiffin. Do I want to see him leave Ole Miss? Sure because he will beat out brains in. But, wherever he goes, we'll end up facing him. The deeper he goes in the playoffs the more opportunities he will have next or the next. He is young as far as HCs go. Just my two bits.

He’s gonna sign it right after the time has passed for us to get anyone decent.
We need to move on from Kiffin.

He’s clearly talking to LSU and Florida or he would have either signed the extension, or publicly come out and say he 100 percent will be at ole miss next year.

I’m glad you aren’t my agent. The move is to slow play everything and see how desperate 3-4 different football crazy schools want to be. The extension will still be there, and probably much higher in December.

I don’t necessarily disagree, but, and this may not be as true today as it was 5-10 years ago, the ceiling at a place like LSU or Florida is different than that of Ole Miss. I will not be surprised on Lane either way. I’m sure he knows whatever limitations Ole Miss may have since he’s been part of two powerhouse programs before. And who knows how far they may go in the future. They had the same or similar quality team last year but didn’t make the playoff. Strike while the iron is hot.

You know who is Lane's agent? Jimmy Sexton. Do you know the only client that Jimmy has that's hotter than Lane? Curt Cignetti. Do you know what Jimmy and Curt did in order to ensure Curt was where he wanted to be? Sign an extension with Indiana

Lane said it wasn’t about the money didn’t you hear?
