If so, why is Landry inserting himself into this melee and saying he is protecting the state and taxpayers?

If I’m Woodward I draft a professional letter explaining the funding of how the LSU head coach gets paid and bring attention to the fact that Landry was(probably unknowingly) lying today when he implied the burden on taxpayers. I then say it is my job as per my contract to find a coach and our department has initiated this process with the intention of making a recommendation to the LSU Board of Supervisors

Am I missing something? Does the governor even have a say in what goes on at LSU outside of appointments to BOS? Also, I would expect him to be more concerned with getting decent jobs and companies to bring good jobs to the state rather than worrying about a coaching search! At the end of the day that will make the citizens more happy! By the way, I am republican, but enough with all this stupid shite!

Landry needs to shut up and keep his nose out of the this, and just concentrate on placating Trump. Coaches and Agents don't like politicians involved in micromanaging college athletics. It's a hindrance to the hiring process

The Athletic Department is self-substaining and operates with no tax dollars, Zip, zero, nada.

It operates off ticket sales, marketing sales, tv revenues, anppearance fees, and donations.

because he wants us to be fiscally responsible and not just throwing ridiculous contracts around and having to use boosters to pay exorbitant buyouts when he knows the average person does not have that type of money. so what did he use most can relate to money wise? taxes. nothing more nothing less.

morons here will melt over it tho.

tax dollars DO go to LSU albeit not for this task. He was just trying to get a point across.

Kind of like a president naming a Supreme Court justice, once appointed the board member can vote however they want. The Governor can apply political pressure but can’t hire or fire University or Athletic dept employees.
