I usually boil around 5 lbs. when I feel like some to snack on. When done boiling I like to spread them out of a baking sheet and toss that in a 180 degree oven for about 1 1/2 hrs.to dry them out a bit.
I will then bag most of them up and freeze them until I want more. The ones I leave out will be on the table for a day and then in the fridge. They never go longer than a week or so before they are eaten.

Enough salt they can probably outlast cockroaches.
Have done +2 weeks with no issue. I usually rewarm with boiling water though.

But Why???
Well, they don't taste any different but they are less messy to deal with without having boiling liquid left in many of the shells to drip on you when eating them.
Plus, my wife prefers them that way when she takes some to work to snack on at her desk so they don't make a mess of her hands and paperwork.

Then they really aren’t boiled peanuts any longer. The juice is the best part. :)
I don’t know about the fridge, but I’ve put both boiled and green in the freezer and at six months they were still good.

Like eating dry arse brisket because it is close to jerky.

I can’t eat em. But from the looks of the gas station ones, I think some have been sitting since Reagan was in office.

This why you put the whole shell in your mouth, crack it with your teeth and suck out the juice before you eat the nuts and spit out the empty shell halves.
