Kiffin - pros & cons *spoiler, he's our guy*
Posted on 10/29/25 at 9:05 am
Posted on 10/29/25 at 9:05 am
PROS
1. Proven offensive coach
2. Elevated a bottom tier Ole Miss program over the past few years
3. Knows the SEC and the pressures/expectations that come with it
4. Would probably energize the fanbase and increase NIL funding
5. A HC record that's very clearly trending upwards *more on this below*
6. Would probably connect with players easily - talks shite with the best of them
CONS
1. Less room for error at LSU than at Ole Miss.
2. Stability - will he stick with LSU through thick and thin or will he leave as soon as Bama or Texas needs a new coach? He's been known to move around often.
3. Hasn't won anything other than a few surprising games. No titles under his belt
4. Bowl record of 5-4
Tennessee
2009 went 7-6 with a bowl loss
USC
2010 went 8-5
2011 went 10-2
2012 went 7-6 with a bowl loss
2013 went 3-2 before being fired
Florida Atlantic
2017 went 11-3 with a bowl win
2018 went 5-7
2019 went 11-3 with a bowl win
Ole Miss
2020 went 5-5 with a bowl win
2021 went 10-3 with a Sugar Bowl loss
2022 went 8-5 with a bowl loss
2023 went 11-2 with a bowl win
2024 went 10-3 with a bowl win
2025 so far is 7-1
Tennessee - 53% win percentage
USC - 65% win percentage
Florida Atlantic - 67% win percentage
Ole Miss - 73% win percentage
He's gotten better with each new stop.
Kiffin has clearly matured and learned, which has improved his coaching abilities tremendously. He's brought Ole Miss from the bottom of the SEC to threatening to take over the conference. Ole Miss has an elite coach on their hands right now and it's going to be difficult for LSU to pull him away. I've been back and forth in my support of Lane Kiffin, but after seeing his record trajectory since the beginning of his head coaching career, I'm sold. He would be up there with Nick Saban and Les Miles at LSU after a few years of righting the ship.
I'm fricking pumped now. Lane Kiffin is our man, back the truck up for him.

As a head coach he’s never won anything in his life. USC quite literally left him at the airport.

Look at his record. USC was towards the beginning of his career as a head coach and he's absolutely trended in the right direction since then. He's matured as well. The man is one of the best active coaches in college football today and LSU would regret not stealing him one day.

Not necessary & he already told us that. Jimmy Sexton will try but it’s not like he’s going to stay at Ole Miss or choose Florida for more $.
If he wants to be at LSU, then he will be here. We don’t need a big contract to get him
ETA: 6 years, 65M

Where did the Kiffin talk even come from? Why did everyone instantly just hop on that train for no reason? It's not like he's expressed interest..

Coach 0, Les Miles, and Nick Saban had never won anything prior to coming to LSU either and Kiffin has a better resume than all 3 of them did when they landed the job.

He won't stay at Ole Miss if LSU offers him $12-$13M a year for 6 years with a Woody buyout. Woody is going to get Kiffin. I can feel it.
And we shouldn't give a rats arse about whatever the contract buyout is because apparently LSU can afford it. We got billionaires who are willing to step in when needed. LSU will get Kiffin here and in the end, he'll say it's not about the money but we all know the pot of gold in that parachute if things go south will ultimately be too hard to pass up.

7. Has a strong enough personality and ego to tell LSU politicos to f' off and "let me do the job" and maintain independence.

Name a coach better than him then. I'm not arguing, I'm all ears. I just firmly believe Kiffin is our man.

Why would we do this? He’s not after the $. Offer him about the same as he’s getting at OM. Maybe $10M/yr just to pay the market price.
Make him the highest paid coach in CFB after he wins a natty here

It's just accounting for all the jambalaya, gumbo, and etouffee he's going to eat while here.

These fanboys like the way he trolls and shitposts on Twitter, nevermind the actual track record.

Sit tight. He may win the SEC this year.

nevermind the actual track record.
First 6 years of his HC career: 46-24 or 52% - lost 34% of his games
Previous 6 years - 51-19, including this year's unfinished season - lost 27% of his games
The previous 6 years have been 100% SEC. He's lost fewer games against much tougher opponents than in his first 6 years, which consisted of one year at Tennessee and the rest at USC playing the Pac fricking 12.
Tennessee - 53% win percentage
USC - 65% win percentage
Florida Atlantic - 67% win percentage
Ole Miss - 73% win percentage
Now, imagine what he'd do at LSU.
I like his track record!

You want me to name a coach better? You are unable to do this?
