I’m a Lane fan also. Really good offenses, not so much defenses.
Why pay 50 to 100mil for a coach.
Lane can stay at ole piss and the expectation will be playoffs or bust from now on.
He will have no pressure and he is very capable of achieving that at ole piss.
Kinda like a Matt Campbell. Why leave Iowa st when your making 4 mill a year to dive into a pressure cooker at
LSU where expectations are higher.
The only reason Lane comes is because he thinks he can win a natty at LSU. Kinda like BK
I really think LSU should look hard at the FCS level. There are a few coaches that have had success moving up to D1 . And a few that have sustained at the FCS level for a period of time.
This would help financially without having to give a big arse contract.
Go Tigers!!!

Ole Miss was #2 in the country, behind Ohio State, in points allowed.
They also averaged almost two turnovers per game. They can give up some yards, but they aren't giving up where it matters.
Lane would be a grand slam hire and is my personal top choice.

So you want to pay out a $53M buyout to hire a FCS coach? Time to turn off the internet for the day.

LK knows that if his assistant Ed O can win one, he can win multiple.

None of us are cutting the check. Let them pay

The egos of the coaches at that level are huge. They don’t want to settle for “10 wins and no pressure”. They want to have their name in history as a coach who won the Natty. That’s easier at LSU than most schools because of the talent in this state and the money LSU is willing to put into their program.

Where do you people come from. I swear 70% of our fanbase never graduated middle school.

He isn’t going to stay at ole Miss
An alternative is having to play him at Florida every year

What are you willing to pay? How much will you pony up?
There is plenty of money until it runs out…..

What would you do? Pay the 53 mil and then spend another 100mil ?
How much you donating?

People who think Lane is afraid of pressure and is good sitting at a place with no expectations are clueless.

Are we going to wait until after the playoffs are over? That’s a while.
Posted on 10/27/25 at 4:56 pm to TurkeyThug
Why do you keep asking other posters what they're donating?
If the boosters who actually matter weren't willing to open their checkbooks, Kelly would still be the coach. They're not paying that buyout just to go bargain hunting in the lower divisions of the sport.

Guys all I’m saying is we can hire lane and pay him whatever he wants. 13 mill a season or whatever, if it’s more it’s more.
If he doesn’t win a natty by year 4 he will be fired . No telling what the buyout will be.
Why not look at a up and comer that we can pay 4 million a year. Garantee it for 4 years. That’s 16 mil. Versus 4 years garunteed at 11 to 13 mill = 44 mill to 52 mill buyout.
Yeah there’s all
Kinds of incentives you can throw in and I could dream up a bunch of them .
I just hope that’s what we do before we pay a huge contract.
Eventually boosters will say no.

I don’t think it will be LK. I can 100% see him stringing LSU along until after the playoffs, end up with a raise, and make headlines for turning us down because he loves Ole Miss.
then we settle for the only guy left who isn’t hired yet.
