Where does Baker stand?

At first it looked like he could be gone after this year given his performance in the first 6 games, but the last few results have been disappointing and now there's a coaching change. And surely next season our defensive roster won't be as strong. Wonder how he's thinking about all of this

I actually like Baker. Baker needs help with stopping running QBs though. Like bad.

I'm not sure you can put all the blame for the Defense on Baker.
When you have the defense out there for more than half the game because the offense sucks so bad you have multiple three and outs, and special teams that keep giving teams a short field. What do you do?

I imagine new coach keeps Baker.

At urinals...and maybe for the National Anthem?

I hope the new guy keeps him but it entirely depends who gets hired.
Kiffin isn’t a big defensive focused guy, imagine he’d want baker.
A defensive minded guy probably wants his guy.

Did you see the OM, Vandy and AnM games?

He’s still got 1 year on his contract. The next coach may decide to hold him over especially if we bring in an offensive minded head coach. If it doesn’t work out his contract runs out anyway.

I honestly don’t care after watching the past two weekends. Learn how to defend a running qb.

we all keep saying he cant scheme against a running QB....hes a smart DC....he knows what to do...its not rocket science. I think the players just cant execute the plan. They take bad angles...they over run the QB.... They dont have discipline to stay in the area on the field they need to. I dont blame him..he has the players he has and they just might be overrated or too self absorbed.

You mean one where his best LB was sick and two where his best LB didn’t play?

You can continue to say this all you want, but how many times has this defense gotten toasted on 3rd down and can’t get off the field?
The offense sucking is a piss poor excuse for this defense, fact of the matter is any offense it’s played with a pulse it’s been lackluster.
The offense sucked arse and couldn’t get first downs vs Clemson, tech, Florida, and South Carolina…didn’t seem to bother it much then. The common denominator? It was able to beat up on shite offenses.

Anyone who knows anything about football needs only look a the TOP stats for LSU this season to understand his defense has lived on the field.

It's hard for a defense when their offense consistently goes 3 and out.

Need to find a DC that is successful against mobile qbs....I wonder how Bakers defenses did at Mizzou against mobile qbs. I think some blame can be on our LB group...terrible tacklers, including Whit, against mobile qbs.

He’ll be gone. You can’t have a DC at a major program who has no clue how to stop a mobile QB in this era of college football. And don’t even start with the defense gets worn down. A&M’s first drive Saturday ended with a 41 yard scramble for a TD by the quarterback. He went in from that far basically untouched. No, can’t happen.
We saw first hand how it did. Daniels shredded them, running at will. And I know he did that to a lot of teams, but Baker has shown at no point that he knows how to stop it from anyone.

Go out there for 70-80 plays a game and tell me you can get off the field every third down in the game.
