Saban is the only candidate that moves the needle

All the other names I’ve seen are garbage. I’d rather just use an interim for an entire year while a thorough search is conducted than hire any mentioned candidates.
Nick Saban
Kirby Smart
Dan Lanning
Curt Cignetti
Those are literally the only 4 coaches that would make me happy, and three of them are impossible. 1 of them is 90% unlikely. Back the Brinks truck up to the Saban’s house for that 10% chance

Get ready to learn the Lane Train

There is no amount of money you could put in front of Saban for him to take another coaching job. He’s 73 with more wealth than he could have ever imagined, a legacy as the GOAT of his profession, raking it in with endorsements, and has a life that keeps him plugged into the game AND with 99% less stress. He’s not dying on anyone’s field. He’s enjoying life, as he deserves
He’s also not the guy for the NIL era and he has no desire to be
Ms. Terry would also slit your throat for trying

It’s like people don’t understand Saban didn’t want to coach in this new portal game.
Some people are destined to never be happy.

LSU is one of the biggest jobs in the country. Easily top 5. I don’t think it’s unrealistic to want a top 5 coach to go with that.
Those are the top 4 coaches.
The other 3 guys are locked up.
Saban would take the call (and 90% likely turn it down) but I think there’s a more than zero chance he would do it. And for that it’s worth the chance. Even on a 2 or 3 year thing.
Seeing people throw names around like Kelvin Sheppard. Clark Lea. Matt Patricia. Brent Key. Summrall, Drinkwitz, etc is just embarrassing. LSU shouldn’t entertain lower tier candidates.
I just don’t see anyone “available” that gets the LSU program to the next level, so why even make a hire then.
I suppose the 2 names that would maybe find common ground are Lane Kiffin and Glenn Schumann, but even then I don’t really want Kiffin. He’s never been stable enough for long term success. And Schumann maybe not a big enough name.
It has to be Saban. You call and make him say no, and then you call again 5 more times

Calm down man. SABAN ain’t coming back to CFB. It’s just gonna take some time to find the right guy

As much as I would love this, we're not pulling him away from his Aflac commercials.

This is the delirious fan talking. There are virtually zero “top tier” candidates on the market. Even Lane, I can show you more failure than success on his resume.
Find a coach who can fit the culture of your program.
Kelvin Sheppard would
Be a great hire!!!

IF, and that’s a big IF, Saban was willing as brought back, it would be a very short “right the program” hire.

You’re an absolute fricking moron if you think Saban is coming out of retirement at 73 in the NIL era that he HATES and basically made him retire man.
