With High Profile Jobs OPEN like Florida and Penn State, this had to be done right now.

My guess is that the target coach is interested in either of those jobs.

It wasn’t absolutely necessary. LSU is a better job than both of those. As long was we have the money we will have no problem getting a really good coach

A few weeks ago, Josh Pate mentioned that there are many high profile coaches who would be interested in coaching LSU.

Why would that opinion hinge on Kiffin?
ESPN already has LSU ranked as the best opening currently. Going back to DiNardo's firing, the LSU job has always attracted national attention when it becomes available, and nothing is different now. There will be plenty of good coaches expressing interest.
