Let's be reasonable here

After sleeping on it, and trying to take the raw emotions out of what is going on, I thought maybe we could have a rational discussion about where the state of the football program is right now.
As with all things in life, you are never as good as you think you are in your high moments and never as bad as you think you are in your low moments.
Having said that, I would very calmly like to say this: Fire everybody now. There is no time to waste. We can not lose several more years to cleaning house and rebuilding the "program" again.

We look like we're in year 1 of a rebuild in his 4th year. You at least fire the head coach now. Someone will need to take the interim role even if it's someone like Baker or Sloan.

The program is burning and we need more than a fire extinguisher

He's Dinardo 2.0.
Brought back the magic in year 1, gave us reason for hope in years 2 and 3, and the wheels came off in year 4.

I think we need to be prepared for a few ugly seasons after this one.
Until proven otherwise, I expect BK will be the HC next year with a rebuilt staff. And with the expected roster turnover and a pretty tough schedule, next year is looking like 7-5 might be the absolute best case scenario
Then we dump BK after that and will then have a new coach, staff and rosette to rebuild again.
And if we don’t hit the jackpot with that coach, it puts us back another 3-5 years at least.

We looked better in year 1 regressing badly. Losing denbrock was massive.

FIFY
This is where I have been since it became clear how badly they fricked everything up with NIL and the portal (not to mention the ridiculous super conference realignment and hilarious 12 team CFP money grab).
It really is crazy how much different it feels than it did just five years ago, not to mention the heyday of the sport in the 2000s.
I couldn’t even imagine following recruiting like I used to when I knew virtually every recruit on the top 250 and where they going, giving a good understanding of not just our class and state of our program, but most other top contending schools as well.
Without having that knowledge base about the players on campus, knowing that any player (much less a simple commit) can be gone at any point I honestly just don’t care, it’s just random semi-pros in a uniform I recognize. There is absolutely no connection to any of these guys or shared interest in the program and history that used to give the sport a different feel.
Fans can hate on Kelly and this staff but these guys have an absolutely awful lot in life, aside from the money (which is likely unsustainable and will change soon), spending every day trying to herd these cats in a single direction when very few have any interest in anything other than their bank accounts.
I couldn’t imagine dealing with the families and handlers and entourages of these guys on a daily basis while still trying to prepare in a way that worked until NIL and the portal removed any type of organizational structure and stability that used to define success at this level.
It is complete chaos, like most other things these days, and I just have very little interest in investing any time whatsoever in trying to hold on to it because of the great memories I have since the 90s when the entire enterprise was different.
I’m sure kids and students coming up these days will think this is all silly nostalgia and will go on loving the only form of CFB they have known, but their ignorance of what it used to be is truly the only way to find bliss in this format imo, and it’s just a shame I won’t be able to share the same perspective on it with my kids as they grow into fans.

Yes! I’ve been saying this for weeks and get downvoted into oblivion. I think they have so much in common that it’s not funny. But Kelly produces the softest product I’ve ever seen. I’m not so sure a Curley Hallman LSU team from the 90’s couldn’t beat this team. Kelly got that flash in a pan with the Alabama game but then it’s been a fizzle.

I think if you replace the HC and the OC and get another offensive tackle, this is a top 10 team.

Last night was a paradigm shift.
It's one thing to be an incomplete team with hope for the future. It's quite another to regress and get curbstomped at home.
