You want to see real poverty? Go to Lagos, or Manila, or Calcutta.

SDC's antipoverty program:

Able-bodied get 3 years lifetime benefits - they will be required to work cleaning roadsides and national parks while receiving benefits
All recipients have to be on birth control while on the dole
All recipients are barred from voting in federal elections while on the dole
All recipients will be subject to bi-weekly hair drug testing.

If I have learned anything in my lifetime about poverty in the United States is that it is a mindset.

This is the problem. Our "anti-poverty" programs are actually anti-inconvenience programs.

I think all government welfare programs should end. It is not what the government should be doing. Charities, churches, and family should help people. Taxpayers can make donations. We should not be forced to participate. Government does a horrible job of determining who is truly needy.

Poverty does not equal dependence. Our poor are purposefully made into dependents of the elite

My wife grew up in the Philippines with 7 brothers and sisters, no running water, no bathroom in a tin roof house.

A whole other level of poverty.

She got her education, came here legally, and now makes a great living. She got a job that the US needs, and contributes to our country.

It can be done.

I don't know anyone who is against helping the needy. But if you got time to tik tok and make babies, frick you. Get a job. Make better decisions. I have 0 fricks to give.

And don't try to use your kids. They are your responsibility!

These motherfrickers can't even be humble while demanding your tax dollars!

True. Thomas Sowell has been making this point throughout his career, and it’s still true.

When you look at pics of the ultra rich 100 years ago they tended to be fat. The poor were very thin. Today the rich are thin and the poor are fat.

The average is pulled up quite a bit by the mega wealthy. There’s a billion people living under extreme poverty

I've often said something like this. I have traveled and worked extensively in other countries and with foreigners. My counterpart in Europe at my last job had a VW hatchback, a moped, and a three room apartment for his 3-person family. I have a guest house the same size as his apartment. We live so incredibly well in this country its not funny.
