The only way in Hell that Loomis May EVER move backwards in the draft and acquire extra picks ….
(No franchise QB available at #1) ….
Would be to trade back from say #1 to …
the #5 to #7 range !!
Other that scenario … he’s using his given draft pick or trading UP in the draft .
Hate That Guy !!!!
And don’t give me that crap he traded backwards in the draft before… that was a DECADE or TWO AGO !!

Saints are NOT drafting a QB with any HIGH draft pick in 2026.
In 2026 it’s Rattler and Shough as your 2 options !!

This is Mickey we're talking about. He'll give way too much to move up from #2 to #1 just to draft the guy we could have drafted even if we had traded down 10 spots.

We aren’t going QB. We still don’t even know what Shough is yet. We need an edge rusher or another offensive lineman. I’d like another receiver but doesn’t appear to be anyone of value in top 5 yet

Simpson’s football IQ looks to be elite. We just saw him throw the ball 60 yards rolling left. Idk. Guy only has 7 starts under his belt, there’s something to his game that is working

You can say this about a bunch of QBs lately that have gone top 5.

I’m pretty sure the coaching staff has an idea.
Also I will lose it if we draft another offensive lineman in the top 10.

Literally every guy you named except Baker is bigger than Simpson. Every single one is more accurate, has more arm strength, and all of them started way more games than Simpson will have after this year.
The NFL drafts traits. It’s just how it works. Simpson lacks traits. People on this board are obsessed with specifically how good a guy looks in college and that’s only part of the equation. Mendoza looks great and is a stellar college QB, literally better than Simpson in EVERY WAY and even he isn’t a great prospect.
And I’ll say it again…he’s playing in a great offense that just sent a top 10 draft pick QB to the NFL in 2024 and that guy has better traits in every category than Simpson, and it’s still up in the air whether he is even good.
Simpson would be a DUMPSTER FIRE selection for this franchise so yeah Mickey will probably take him.

What metrics are you using to determine accuracy for elite traits for some of these guys in comparison to Simpson this year?
