Spurned a now 18-4, 6-1 SEC LSU team to go play for a now 13-9, 4-7 Big East squad in Georgetown. Bet he didn't see that coming.

And he is still going to make millions. So I doubt he cares.

I am sure Greg Monroe based his college decision on a few message board posts. Academics, coaching, and the national prominence of the basketball team had nothing to do with his final decision.

When did we turn into a basketball school? We can barely sell out.

Are you a basketball school if you win at basketball and football? Or both? I think it matters how many accumulated people show for the whole seasons combined.

Nice call on Monroe... Glad TJ could show him something. LSU still under the radar, big time in the national conscience... but who cares.. just keep winning and that will change. FU BAMA!

I agree with all of what you said except academics--he wont be there long enough to graduate, a year of freshman classes wont make a whole lot of difference. He will prolly make millions in the league anywhere he went.

Basketball recruiting is as sleazy at sleazy gets. Monroe went to Georgetown because it is a big-time Nike school. LSU is a bit player in basketball as far as Nike is concerned. Basketball players who are as big and talented as Monroe is have had a shoe deal and sponsorship since they were like 10. They go where Nike says, usually regardless of what or who is recruiting them. Nike gave him a choice between Georgetown and NC. He went to Georgetown.

Nike probably has shoe deals with 20 of the top 25 programs. Even if he wanted to remain loyal to Nike (and I actually have no idea if his AAU team was affiliated with Nike, btw), he had tons of choices other than GTown.

UNC wasn't even involved in Monroe's recruitment. It was between LSU, GTown, and Duke for a very long time.
