Yes

I'm playing on Hard, currently on Chapter 3. Game is hard as shite but I think it's starting to click. As someone who considers NG Black the greatest action game of all time and has hundreds of hours in the series (platinumed all games), I thought I would have an easier time. It's just so different than previous NG games. It's polished and satisfying mechanically, but it's a Ninja Gaiden game in name only. It's FAR more Platinum than Team Ninja.

Part of me thinks this was another game entirely until Microsoft offered them to partner with TN and make a new NG game. Just know going in that this is much more Bayonetta/Metal Gear Rising than Ninja Gaiden 1/2. Having a great time, but it just doesn't scratch the same NG itch for me.

Have you played the new 2D Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound?

That and Shinobi: Art of Vengeance are great.

Actually makes me more interested. I could hang on for dear life on normal mode with NG 1,2 but it wasnt a "fun" time ,...I kinda suck at these type of games. MGR just clicked with me...maybe simply b/c it was easier but I loved playing that game.

This is probably my favorite fight so far, very early boss so not really spoilery. Illustrates how Platinum-esque the combat is. Attack at same time to parry, slow mo on perfect dodges, etc

It’s sloppy and I was nowhere close to figuring out her moveset at this point. I also try to bait parries and dodges too much

I have not played it yet. But I saw that coming a mile away in the announcement thread.

Ninja Gaiden and platinum games. I am not sure how I feel about that.
I hope they are not doing the combat.

I just have to accept that we're never getting a NG Black caliber game ever again. Between the world design, the weightiness of the combat, the strategy/prioritizing enemy types, and the impeccable game feel, I don't think anything can ever reach such perfect marriage of all those elements again.

Platinum combat just feels so floaty and imprecise in comparison, but it's still fun in a different way. I'm enjoying the game and think you would too.

Is the plot bat shite insane like the original XBox and 360 releases?

I’m still early but the writing is worse than ever and the voice acting is shite. Cringe anime gooner trash

The lines from that clip you posted earlier are cringe AF. I can't believe there are STILL studios pushing the Marvel'eque meme dialog style despite it always receiving overwhelming negative feedback.

I’m sure the gameplay is fine, but that dialogue is some A tier Whedon-slop.

When can we get away from characters trying to quip their way into relatability?

This game is fricking amazing and feels like a 360 game with insane visuals which is a massive compliment.

Been playing it on pc game pass which I typically don’t have active and it’s peak. It pulled me away from other quality games I was playing and gripped me

Boobs gore and being allowed to do insane cool shite still sales. Always did

I played ninja gaiden and beat it way back when it was new during the Xbox era. I have kept up on action games/rpgs mostly via soulslikes but that combat is much more stiff. This is a different animal and I’m sure my reflexes are worse off since 2004.

I decided to give this a go. It is definitely unforgiving and chunks your arse in the deep end. The first few purgatory chambers were humbling until I started to get my head around the mechanics. Admittedly, I was self imposing handicaps for larger payouts but I probably still look pitiful compared to someone who knows what they’re doing.

It has an extremely high skill ceiling to be sure. I am on the hardest mode and I spent a considerable amount of time getting beaten like an alabama fans wife. Once you get things rolling and stuff clicks into place you can do some bonkers things. It is pure fun without being worried about being bogged down in the story side. I love a good narrative game but as I said this is a 360 game in its DNA and I love that.

It makes me so happy character action games are making a massive return

The story starts off stupid.

The secretive ninja clan member, raised from birth to kill the priestess, is immediately swayed by the priestess, thus abandoning his mission.

Probably the most honest depiction I have seen in games, recently.
