Joshjrn told & warned me, that its a hard, brutal platformer , that has a cult following.
I downloaded it, played it, got rekt, thought it sucked, slogged through, eventually realized its brilliance, and beat it.
its hard to explain. the religious imagery is awesome to me. the combat is very tough. the secrets are ridiculously hidden. the lore is incredible.
I will buy blasphemous 2 on sale for 11.99 this evening, but honestly, i want more blasphemous I.
I will be beginning a 2nd playthrough looking for secrets and achievements soon.
Rizer approved and recommended

The game invokes serious dark souls nostalgia

Speaking of that thread, Grime II looks to be coming together; hopefully we’ll have a release date soon. The genre is certainly doing well these days.

As a point of order, while we did discuss it, I don’t think I’m the one who originally pitched it in that thread. Though because both TD and Google suck arse at this point, I can’t seem to find the damned thread to confirm who it was

I’m wrapping up Hollow Knight and Silksong. I also love Souls games. Would I like this?
I downloaded Nine Sols too

I think you and Carson have put it on my radar. I just haven't bought it yet but it does look awesome. The issue is I just beat silksong so I generally jump genres. Finally playing tears of the kingdom for the first time.

Oh boy you're in for a treat
Play Nine Sols first then do Blasphemous 1 and 2

I just adore the bleakness of the world and the twisted "Catholic Souls" setting. It's well done and disturbing

gonna go for a "true ending" / DLC run.

This game is an enigma to me. I love Metroidvanias. I adore Dark Cells.
I played this one on the Switch a few years ago, but couldn't get the bug, even after an hour or two.
I may need to revisit.

I'm surprised the OST alone didn't hook you. So many bangers.
My favorite:

I play most games in handheld on the Switch with the volume down/off, but it's certainly something to consider when I have it docked.

the beginning is certainly a bitch. super ghouls and ghosts SNES type vibes . also a lot of backtracking for secrets and a lot of systems to learn. makes sense a lot of people wouldnt get hooked early, i sure didnt.
But you can ignore all the secret and collectible stuff and just kill and have fun.
just defeated ten piedad on my 2nd playthrough.

Attempting to do Gemino’s side quest and this platforming in the wind and snow is fricking me up.
Good to be back in Cvstodia .
I never knew this guy even existed in my first playthrough. Not too obscure , but definitely fated by some challenging shite that a first timer would turn back on.

Did every step for Gemino’s quest but apparently it secretly auto fails you if you enter the zone initially and don’t speak to him, which I did
Brutal
love it, I’ll save it for ng+
Returned all the herbs so tiriso quest is alive
redento progressed
Got the knot of hair for sword dmg
Three gnarled tongues and Sands relics for exploration
Returned the remains to the chapel in abrero to get the miracle
Beat Perpetva
Lots of rosary beads, fervor Health, flasks, lvl 3 mea culpa. Onward to the bridge we go to begin my pilgrimage
Almost overlooked equipping the immaculate bead for the “true ending” . Boy would I have been pissed.
Much easier this time since I know what’s up. Overwhelming as frick for a newcomer

I was certainly animated when I made OP. Allow me to elaborate a touch to clear confusion.
You simply stated blasphemous 1 as an option, and you actually weren’t a fan, but it had a Cult following
That’s the phrase that triggered the interest.

Ah, now that sounds right. Yeah, very much a love it hate it nothing in between those game. I’ll probably give it another shot at some point. There was something about the dodging mechanic I didn’t like.
