Would the 2000 ravens have the #1 defense in the nfl today?

Obviously their personal numbers would be higher due to style of play but would they still be the most dominant defense in the league? Normally I’m all current players > older players cause weights and health and stuff…but I believe they might still have the best defense.

Question though… Vick wasn’t even in the league yet… shite, Brady wasn’t even playing yet. how would they defend a super mobile QB like Daniels? They might have been built to defend a league that no longer exists

I'm sure they'd struggle mightily with today's Bengals, Browns and Steelers.
But your question is for an alternative reality. 2000 Ravens wouldn't be allowed to play their defense... So what's the point of the question? Can't put a square peg in a round hole. NFL became a new re-imagining after 2004.

Exactly.
I’d like to see (imagine) a modern team and an older team playing but each side has to keep their rules. The 2000 Ravens can head hunt and the 2025 team can’t. How much does the modern passing and safety rules enable the offenses to be as productive as they are?

They were big and athletic at all 3 levels. They would have a very good defense in 2025. They would certainly have a learning curve on targeting and roughing the passer though

The Ravens would destroy Al these new age OL coming from spread systems. It would be a bloodbath….and lots of penalties but the holdings may offset the targetings lol.
Don’t think there’s a center in the league who can handle that eras NG.

Not sure. But I know Ed Reed would be an all pro today as he was then.
Their big DTs may be a little obsolete though.

I don’t know if you’re specifically referring to the 2000 team, but Reed was still at Miami then. He wasn’t drafted until the ‘02.
