Kelly’s demeanor in Monday’s press conference

Others have mentioned Kelly’s demeanor seemed to be more pleasant and relaxed in Monday’s press conference. It got me to thinking that there’s been some development that possibly has relieved him of his stress. Considering Marcus Freeman is a hot coach and there are so many openings, I wonder if he’s notified Notre Dame of his intentions of taking one of these jobs like Penn State, and Notre Dame has reached out to Kelly to return and finish his career there. I know it’s wishful thinking and somewhat of a wild speculation, but wishful thinking doesn’t hurt.

Bro, ND ain’t calling Kelly if Freeman leaves

if his demeanor was more "pleasant or relaxed" it was to not stir up the hornets nest that is the media and fans right now

Could you imagine Notre Dame going from Brian Kelly's lows to Marcus Freeman's highs, then being like, "let's bring Kelly back".

He no longer has the pressure of making the playoffs this season

Losing to NIU was awesome!
They’ve already lost to the only 2 good teams they’ve played this year as well,
There is NO difference in Freeman and Kelly.

This! And I also noticed that the reporters in the room were a little more pointed and aggressive with their questions than every before with Kelly. You could tell that the lid is about to blow off any week now. And Kelly knew it, too. I didn't think he was more relaxed at all and if anything, I thought he seemed a little nervous.

financially he's in the driver's seat but he can't help but feel like dead man walking as far as his "legacy" goes, got to be a surreal feeling that you are so shitty at your job that someone is willing to pay millions for you just to go away

What an unbelievably wild theory

Yup, his legacy is cooked.
An absolute blow out in his only NCG appearance.
Getting blown out in the SECCG.
One Heisman winner which I give him credit for recruiting
$10M/year as one of the highest paid coaches to never reach the CFP
I pray for utter humilitation of that leprechaun going forward and hope Aggie hangs 100 on us to serve as the catalyst in getting rid of him.

Id be pretty happy too if I were one loss closer to collecting $50M. Im not insinuating he's mailing it in, but he jist doesn't have some of the stresses that other coaches have. This contract is likely taking him to retirement regardless of how long he coaches. He won't sign another one.

ND was happy to see him go. They wouldn’t ask him to come back.

He was relaxed because he had formed an opening statement to push some potential questions to the side. He also had prepared answers to questions he knew was coming. He is a politician and approached it as such. Some of his answers were just word salad that made no sense.

if he isn't then he's a lot worse than we previously thought

Don't forget... It is not like he left on good terms. No way that would even be a thought from ND.

I can’t fine how negative our fan base would be if we had hired Napier and had the results he got at Florida
