Say what you will about Les Miles' Big Cat Drill.

But he placed tough guys not patsies on the Off line. Those Big Cat drills showed which players were tough and had a nasty attitude.
DJ Chester wouldn't have performed well in the Big Cat drill.

Hello DJ. How flat do you like your pancakes?

Miles had one thing that Kelly hasn't had since he's been here...an identity for his teams. They were gonna be physical and play smash-mouth on O(though boring as crap) and dominant on D. Kelly seems confused from game-to-game what he wants to be!

Agree, winning sucked.

The big cat drill was a fricking waste of time. All the players except two were just standing around.
Oh sure, it made us tough. We did what that idiot wanted against Alabama—“beat them where they’re strongest!” We got our arse kicked and Leonard Fournette had 31 yards rushing.
frick Les Miles and frick that useless big cat drill.

I think people are contrasting that absolute clown-show Les was with what Kelly is. It's actually pretty amazing to consider that as dumb as Miles was, he's gonna end up with better credentials at LSU than mr. Grown up in charge Kelly!
It's actually amazing to see what we've done for coaches since Saban and the success we've had with 3 terrible coaches!

Big Cat Drill didn't make you tough; Les recruited tough kids. I met Jalen Mills at DeSoto High School while I was recruiting for the Navy. I asked him did he think he would play his first year. He looked me in the eyes, and he told me he would start. Jalen was better and tougher than the five-star CB on his high school team. Miles and the others had a better eye for talent.

Miles was also the genius running full contact scrimmages two weeks before opening day against Wisconsin. It is still amazing how well LSU did despite him.

He wasn't any better than BK toward the end, even with more talent.

FFS we did the same drill in high school. I bet every high school does the drill. I bet lsu Does the drill now. It’s not magic and frankly it is a lot of standing around when it’s not your turn.

Impressive standard you have for Kelly. And agree with you that Les was a better recruiter.

During Miles first 6 or 7 years at LSU, LSU & Florida WERE the SEC!!!
His teams were tough and the players played their hearts out for him. You only remember his later years before being fired.
Saban came here and that marriage MUTUALLY benefited Saban and LSU. He was finally able to get elite talent and LSU had a highly competent coach.
Miles came and nobody really knew what to expect. He coached in the shadows of Saban, who some fans never got over. However, Miles recruited at a high level and players loved him. His downfall was Jordan Jefferson and the putrid offense in his later years. He even had some bad defensive years then too. But in his first 6/7 years, we won PLENTY of BIG GAMES and there was never a game that LSU fans didn't truly believe we would win.
Coach O had a wild personality and fans liked him because of it. He gave us some to look forward to because his teams improved. Then came the 2019 season and it was the greatest! He imploded rather quickly after which brings us BK.
BK came with hopes of finally winning a NC to cement his legacy amongst the coaching greats. He himself was under the disillusion that a title had eluded him due to lack of talent, not coaching. He had a Heisman QB and didn't even sniff the playoffs!. Look at the expectations coming into this season. BK is overrated and I would bet $$$$ he NEVER wins a NC at LSU.
