BR “Thrive” plan vote this November. Don’t get hoodwinked. Vote NO!

Thrive plan
The first sentence is the most important.
So because of St George, they want to rob dedicated funds from parish wide services to fund BR city costs. Such a BS end run to keep sucking off the entire Parish to fund BR.
Then let me tell you what will happen. In the not too distant future (if this passes), the library will cry they don’t have enough funds and will put another “dedicated library tax” on the ballot to makeup what they robbed from them to put in the general fund. Then everyone will vote for libraries because you’re an a-hole if you don’t. Walla! BR city keeps getting taxes they lost from St George.
VOTE NO! BR needs to survive on its own and not take tax dollars from Parish wide dedicated taxes.
It’s also on a LSU home game day I believe. Go vote No before you go to the game.

Normally I would agree, but this thing takes money from the libraries and COA which are bloated, unregulated entities in the parish that are flush with cash. As long as St George is in EBR Parish and I have a say, I’d rather those funds go elsewhere in the Parish than those coffers. Same with Brec.

And normally I would agree with this but then they put another dedicated tax for libraries and/or BREC and it passes. They always do. More taxes.
It’s a shell game.

If it were me I would up the mayor's plan exponentially.
I don't know the mayor or any of his staff personally.
Where the hell is that sewer use fee going? Everyone is has been paying since the 1980s a monthly fee that is now about $80 , including all businesses.
Multiply that out for 108,000 single family homes in the parish per month for 40 (forty) years. That is $3 trillion. ( I used $60 per month.) Please check my math, be my guest.

Sounds like a great plan. The EBR library system is flush with tax dollars while the rest of the Parish crumbles.

So your plan is to simultaneously defund the library AND watch the parish crumble further because that somehow safeguards against the threat of future tax increases?
The mayor's plan isn't perfect but..I like his plan more than your plan.

There is more to it than what is quoted in OP. It’s taking the money on hand and re-allocating as a one time event. Those entities still have their normal allotments.
Edit: upon reading more carefully, it appears I was mistaken. It does have a reoccurring element.

I understand and while I supported St. George, their new city has positioned us in BR to look out for our interests first. I would hope that those in St. George would understand considering that is their position as well

The library has a lot of paid shills I’ve noticed. Crime is the biggest problem facing EBR and the money the library system doesn’t know how to spend is needed elsewhere. This is common sense.

This is the new reality. St. George voted to expand the bloat. I don’t blame them but the potential consequences regarding money have been well established in the lead up. Right or wrong, expecting those of us in BR to not support out best interest is naive
