Walmart rant: digital price tags

TLDR:
Long story short, price online is lower than price in store.
Walmart near me recently changed all sticker tags to digital. Needed a bottle brush kit for my kids bottles, checked the app and found one that’s in stock. I live 5 minutes from Walmart so I never do online ordering. The price in store is 8.5% higher than in the app. I asked the Walmart grocery picker nearby why it’s like that and she said they’ll price match at the register. Ring it up myself since only self checkout was open. Ask the lazy worker to price match it, gave me attitude that they can’t, goes get manager and manager has the same attitude, says that’s the online price only. Lowest of intelligence working at these places.
You would think the online order would cost more for them to pay a worker to go pick it and process it rather than me just doing it myself. They don’t even have to pay a cashier! I’m working for free when I self checkout!

I order everything online now for delivery. Started about 6 months ago. Only thing I make sure I check “will be home” bc if I check “leave at door” half my order will be missing. I’m pretty good at catching issues. I don’t have to deal with anyone’s attitude.

They are trying to take Amazon share away by making it cheaper if you order online. Loss leader so to speak.

I refuse to do online ordering. I only use Walmart for stuff that the local store doesn’t carry, but I would never let someone else pick my groceries, produce especially.
The point I’m getting at is you don’t know if online price or in store price will be better. There were even some tags that didn’t display a price. Only a barcode. I had to ask a worker to scan the price, then I checked online to see if it was the same or different

I’m glad you found a place where you belong.

A pair of Beats earbuds were $40 less than in the store. They wasn't gonna to sell them to me for the price. So I had to buy them online and do store pickup.
It's fricken retarded

I’m not sure about that, this is the second time it’s happened to us. Two different locations but same shitty attitude about it.
The picker said they would price match it, but the register watchers wouldn’t do it

I do online ordering all the time, but not for meat or produce.

Download the Walmart app and scan the barcode yourself. Problem solved

Online ordering saves from store theft.

I do Walmart delivery for packaged stuff, cases of water, etc. Run by my local grocery store for meat, produce, etc.

I have stuff shipped from Walmart... That way I will actually get the stuff and not "It was out of stock and we substituted this item" crap... I can get the items the next day...and sometimes the day after and even on Sunday... The only draw back is some of the items you have to order 2 to make it worth their effort...

Office Depot is the same, their online price is cheaper than in the store price.

We started doing delivery a few months ago (and eventually sprung for InHome so I don't have to tip) and have been happy with it. Not only are the prices lower, sometimes they have Walmart cash or digital coupons. We save 10% on average overall vs going in store. If something is missing or wrong, it is really easy to get a refund through the app. I don’t order a ton of produce and meat through them but the few times I did, it was fine.
They put the cold/frozen stuff right in our garage fridge and the rest at the door. It's almost always the same guy lately but they have all been nice and professional. The only downside is the delivery window is four hours but someone is almost always home and you can track your order anyway.
Long story short, I'm very happy with Walmart delivery.

Hmm. I would expect the opposite to get you into the store.

It’s not the price of it that bothered me, it’s the principal of the matter. Not price matching their own online price for that location is retarded.
