What an absolute blast of a movie to this day. Top 5 John Carpenter movie, Top 5 Stephen King adaptations.

The scene where buddie gets run down is absolutely beautiful cinema.

Not a fan. It's been too long since I saw it to remember what changes they made from the book to the movie but I loved the book and I didn't like the movie.

One of the best soundtracks in the history of movies. Not the official soundtrack, but the songs used in the film.

I read the book a few months ago. They made a LOT of changes in the movie. It felt like a completely different story at times.
I still loved the movie though. It just wasn't a faithful adaptation.

It's kind of weird how so many of King's books are changed for movie adaptations and he doesn't seem to care but Stanley Kubrick made a few tonal changes to the Shining and King has been bitching about it for 45 years. Like, what about all of the other crappy movies you sold out for?

Could not have picked a better lead actor. Dude played that part to a T.
Great movie.
Great movie.

Keith Gordon seems to always come off a quirky, nerdy and a bit strange in most of his roles. I'm sure he's been in a few films but I can only remember him in "Christine" and "Back to School".

I recognize Keith Gordon from 2 movies primarily, Christine and Back to School. Did not impress me as Melon's son.
Looks like he dipped out of acting 20+ yrs ago. Good.

I find that one of his truest adaptations was actually a TV movie - Salem's Lot. And it was creepy A.F.

Started watching again the other night. The scene where Christinie fixes herself in front of Arnie is amazing. So we'll done without today's CGI. The background sultry music just sets the mood.

Lawnmower Man was in name only. The original short story was insane. If I remember correctly. The guy cutting the grass actually turned into a human lawnmower. It had nothing to do with AI or computers.
I think as the money came in, King finally gave up giving a frick about keeping the story intact.
I'm pretty sure The Dead Zone was a solid adaptation.
The Dark Tower is one of the worst. Removing characters and changing race and no this isn't about woke, the whole story revolves around Roland & Detta Walker. Making Roland Black takes out a huge portion of the book and not just book the whole series. Just the mere suggestion of making that change should have gotten the writer fired but I would bet none of the people involved read the series and none of them took the time to even look at plot summaries for the whole series.

One of my fav. lines ever in a movie:

In the book, Christine is haunted and the ghost has a whole back story. That's fine for a book.
But Christine just rolling off the assembly line evil is perfect for a movie.

He mainly switched to directing TV episodes.
