Any reputable reel repair guys in the Lafayette area?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't find anyone local I cannot recommend Rick's reel service enough. Rick has been servicing and repairing my offshore reels for over a decade. He's a retired veteran located in Florida and his knowledge and attention to detail is unmatched. Not too difficult to box up your reels and ship them to him.

I'm tempted to go this route.

Is Favaro's still around? They were on Weller Avenue in BR years ago.

Not Laffy but I have had good success using Fish On tackle in Carlyss.
His guy is good and pretty fast, he actually fixed a core 100 and chronarch 50 I was ready to toss in the garbage.

Not in Lafayette and a little trouble but this family owned business in Dallas went through a couple of my 1970's Ambassador 5000s. One just needed cleaning $29.99 and $15.00 FedEx. The other one needed several parts and it was a staggering $39.56 plus shipping. Fixing to mail them another one.

They have a website with a repair form to print and put in box with reel.

Is OCR still around? My google searches are inconclusive. Had an old coworker that would use him often. But I'm not sure if he's still around.

I think OCR relocated to Henderson. Don't quote me on that.

If your reels are Shimano's, you can box them up and ship them back to their Warranty/Repair facility in California. I have sent some back and they come back as new, or replaced with new...

I started rebuilding my reels myself. Look up specific reel on YouTube. It’s a lot easier than you would think. No special tools needed. I rebuilt all my spinning reels and 2 6500c3 bait casters. Just order some reel oil and grease on amazon.

For vintage Ambassadeurs, this place is 100% the right call. I lived in Dallas from 2020-2022 and brought several of my and my brothers reels here.

They can get backed up at times but do a good job. They had as many as 9 full time reel service guys working and see pretty much everything but really specialize in those older round reels.

For a newer shimano, daiwa, etc...., I dont think I would mess with shipping. Superior B&T in BR has done a fine job and usually gets it turned around in about a week.

What type of reel? I fish Lew's and they have a repair outfit in Dallas and it does warranty work. Just got back a reel I've had for 10 years, and it like brand new now. Also have parts for do it your self.

Pretty sure the answer is no. Swampland tackle repairs my rods but they don't work on reels.
