Bullied gay teen Cameron joins the Marine Corps with his best friend despite risks. In boot camp they experience profound personal change amid danger, as their platoon confronts both literal and figurative landmines.
The main character was the one of the gay kids from 13 Reasons Why. I’m only on the first episode, but it’s not overly gay… yet. It’s actually quite hilarious so far.

it's annoying because they deliberately changed the name from The Pink Marine to Boots and left out anything about him being gay in the trailer so that they can rope in a bunch of unsuspecting viewers to watch yet another pro-gay bullshite show.

Upset mom Vera Farmiga getting nailed by the handsome young marine recruiter was pretty funny. 
I'm further along in the series. It does gets worse, although in a slightly unexpected way. Real marines in the M/TV will be appalled.
