Game was essentially over but it seemed to me that targeting could have been called on Whit Weeks again late in game against S. Carolina. The commentators mentioned that Sellers took a "hit to the head" on the play. Glad we were playing at home..... Love the enthusiasm and effort but that was very close..... Anyone else think that we got away w one?

The other baffling call was the apparent infraction by S. Carolina on fake punt. Seemed to me that the ref stepped out of the way and the play should have been allowed to stand. I understand there was substitution going on and LSU was allowed to substitute but the ref clearly moved out of the way so play could continue. Beamer was arguing w refs after and was pretty pissed about it.

LSU was clearly the better team but those were 2 plays that went our way thankfully. Weeks aggressive play is AWESOME but he needs to clean up those hits w his helmet or he's going to get canned again.

I’m unclear as to whether the ref blows his whistle to indicate that the play can continue. If not it seemed poorly handled.

From AI…

Yes, the referee blows the whistle to indicate play can resume after a substitution. After confirming the substitution is complete, the referee will lower their hands and blow the whistle to signal that the ball is ready to be put back into play.

In that case, USCe did not get screwed.

I dont know the rule. But on the face of what the announcers said, I would be pissed too if I was Beamer. But secondly, how in the hell could we be playing a Beamer team in that position and not expect some crazy special teams stuff.

Agreed.i immediately sent the tape to the sec office as soon as weeks blasted him. We cannot allow those kinds of hits in this day and age of football. It must be stopped

It's a shame the game has devolved in a manner that forces a tackler to sacrifice his own safety to make a "legal" tackle.
