He was hired and paid BY Penn St. to be ELITE, not good. He failed
Spot on.
His payout equates to $15 dollars a minute or $20,000 A DAY FOR THE NEXT 6 YEARS
INSANE

Sounds familiar. And he has PSU one field goal from the natty game last year. What does that say about the job BK has done here?

It says our AD screwed us and the program for years to come.

Nothing?
Kelly has been here 4 years, not 12, and most of that has been spent trying to get a full roster. Also, Franklin has a worse big-game record than Kelly, and the 2 most recent losses were worse than any loss Kelly has had in his 3+ years at LSU.
Apples to oranges.

We've had a full roster every year he's been here. This is just false info.

Semantics. This is the first year we've had any noticeable depth, especially on defense. You know well what I mean.

This is very true. UCLA is horrendous and losing to this current rendition of Northwestern at home is an unimaginable calamity.

Actually, your statement is false.
72 scholarship players in year 1
80 in year 2

Factually incorrect
2021 season ended with 39 scholarship players of 85 available scholarship roster spots
BK was hired and got it to 77 that first year, 7 scholly roster spots still open

I don't think his record alone did him in.
He was rather chippy and doodoo headed....kind of like BK

Factually incorrect. 39 players were available for the bowl game, there were more players than that on the roster. Players sat out due to injury, transfer, grades, maintaining eligibility, etc. Thanks to Woody firing O in October, there was plenty of time for players to mail it in.

I think if his preseason #3 team with a senior quarterback hadn't lost to winless UCLA and a milquetoast Northwestern team at home to make 3 losses in a row, he'd still be coaching.
Also, 12 years is a long time. Hell, even Bama started to grow tired of Nick Saban in '22/'23. About a decade is the shelf life for a coach at a single school outside of the greats.

There were something like 42 players on scholarship after those who were leaving, left. Whether that be transfers or to the NFL.

Bk did not coach the bowl game
Lsu played the 2022 season with a less than full roster.
Im not arguing one way or the other, just pointing out that your comment was wrong. It isnt debatable, what you said is objectively wrong. Your comment would be spreading misinformation (if anyone cared) so i was just pointing out that The Pirate King, in this instance, whether misinformed or intentional, is 100% wrong and people should be aware that the poster is misrepresenting known, verifiable facts

No, that’s nothing to do with it FFS. Adults in charge don’t care if the HC is a sweet guy. Franklin has been there a dozen years and struggles against ranked teams. And the wheels fell off this year after the Oregon loss.
It’s nothing at all like BK at LSU; but of course LSU fans fricking hate their coach with psychotic passion so they equate everything with BK.

He was obviously being evaluated how he did overall in big games.
He built them up to be a really solid program again and they (the school) is ready to make that next step.
They obviously didn’t feel for whatever reason it was going to be with Franklin.
I hear he is an arse, so it bought him less time and they had the money prepared.
Penn State is ready for a title.
Saying all that, depending on how the rest of this season goes for LSU if we should miss the playoffs this year, we really should just start getting our things in order because after 26’ that will be it.

BK has lost 5 of the 6 against ranked opponents. He is currently 3-6 overall against ranked opponents

I was with Penn State people this week in Happy Valley. Franklin got fired bc he lost back to back weeks to 20 point dogs. Their fan base could have (begrudgingly) swallowed three loses to this point in the season if they were good loses to respectable teams.
What has happened in the past two weeks was more than they could accept.

This.
Less to do with winning "big games" and more to do with losing "little games".
He's been there 9 years and returned a ton of production, two losses like that back to back are just unacceptable.
