Tackling…or the lack thereof?

Am I the only one that feels proper tackling is not being coached anymore or, at least, not being executed and the coaches aren’t addressing it?

You would swear the defense gave up 40 points & 500 yards of offense reading this board this morning.

In general across the entire sport, yes. Because it requires going good on good and live hitting, which will eventually result in injuries. Players are bigger, stronger and faster across the board today and so it’s harder to do without collateral damage.
That said, it’s not an excuse. Some coaches still manage to produce defenses that are better at tackling than others. DCs have to figure out some balance that gets the defense ready.
Our defense had some missed tackles last night, but they have still been improved in that regard over last year. It seems to be more of a problem for us when we play really mobile QBs. The extra attention we pay to guys like Sellers and Chambliss seems to temper our aggression a little.

Other than Cooley whiffing on the long TD run, we didn't miss tackles. Not sacking Sellers isn't the same.
If that was a crime, a lot of felonies have been committed in CFB so far this year. That dude is Cam 2.0

Pyburn missed Sellers several times in the backfield. Sellers must of had his legs covered in seal shite
Harold Perkins missed a few in 2nd half as well

They scored 10 points! Your an idiot

It was sellers last night, not us. He does that to everyone

Players don’t want to get hurt on a tackle. They prefer whiff rather than wrap up on a tackle.

We didn't tackle very well last night, but we made up for it by not blocking.

And that was the only thing South Carolina did on offense the whole game yet, based on this board, you’d think we gave up 40 points last night

This factually incorrect. There were multiple missed tackles. Sellers making Guillory miss on a sack attempt is not the same as Pyburn and Whit and others actually missing the tackle. I.e them going down low and Sellers stepping through the tackle attempts.
That’s 100% a missed tackle. Not the same as spinning out of a sack in the pocket.

We ran for 6 ypc last night. It’s like you people don’t even watch the games.

Sellers was acked six times and forced into two crucial intentional grounding penalties. But, yeah lets focus on a few times when a great athlete escaped being sacked and draw the ridulous conclusion that tackling is not being taught. The fricking stupidity and negativity on this board is becoming overwhelming.

Are you trying to defend our offensive line and their coach?
Posted on 10/12/25 at 10:42 am to MNCscripper
Should have had at least 5 or 6 sacks due to missed tackles last night

Last night? Yes absolutely. They played extremely well. Zero sacks. 160+ yards on the ground against a very good SC front. Again it’s like some of you didn’t watch the game. Did you expect Stewart to make no plays? He gets pressures and sacks every week. And this week he only got pressures. That’s a success!

But for one bad angle taken (by Cooley on 75 yd run) score would have been 20-3.
