Yikes. I was a HUGE fan of Douglas Murray for going on a decade. When I saw he was going to be on Joe Rogan with Dave Smith, it felt like Christmas morning. And then…

It was bad. Worse than bad.

Still, I just assumed he had a blind spot.

Now, he’s apparently been a speechwriter for the Israeli government for some time now. And didn’t disclose.

It’s gonna be really hard to take him seriously at this point. I have no problem with a person taking a stance either way on the Gaza issue. It’s complicated and both sides are right and wrong. But to say you’re a journalist and be that involved on the inside. That’s tough for me to reconcile.

I liked his book about the hamas attacks on October 7th… that was tough to hear of the carnage and how Hamas went door to door to kill Israelis .

I'm still a fan of his on most other issues, but he's an Israel firster too. Don't like him on that issue at all, and it really bugged the shite out of me when his big arguments were "you've never beaan?!!", and the argument from authority.

Someone's arguments are either right or wrong. That's it. Murray has done a fantastic job of doing that in debates over the years, but in that Smith debate w/ Rogan, he was doing things he'd rip other opponents apart for doing.

I have no problem with it. Besides, he's in the right side. Why would anyone supoort savages in a death cult whose one and only purpose in life is to kill as many Jews as possible???
The wrong is all on the Palestinians and their chosen "government", Hamas.

He hates Muslims. Above all, he hates the religion, the people, and anything to do with both. He wants them all out of Western nations, and if he thinks Israel will somehow help make that happen, he'll be friends with them.

It isn’t an issue of his stance. It’s an issue of integrity.

He’s literally an employee of the Israeli government if he’s being paid to write speeches for them to the UN. I knew his stance already. I don’t particularly care for the paid propaganda. How is he any different from Bari Weiss (one of the biggest “toadies” on earth) at that point?

The way he debated Dave Smith was pathetic. He basically challenged Smith’s credentials to speak about Gaza and Israel instead of debating him.

If disliking Islam makes you Israel first, does disliking Israel make you Islam first?

I think so.

He's not wrong.

I think it's the opposite. Israel wants them out of the Middle East and has been exporting its agents to Western countries to expedite the millions of "asylum seekers" and "refugees".

Had dinner with him and others about 6 years ago. I’m good friends with one of his mates.

I’m not sure what’s alarming to you. He’s openly supported Israel forever. He’s spent much time in the region and has first hand experience. He strongly advocates for the West and believes Israel is an island of the West in an ocean of Muslim slop. You can disagree with his opinion but it’s hardly surprising. He’s one of the strongest voices advocating for the long term survival of western civilization.

Basically. He’s the voice that the West needs.

Your response misses my point.

He’s a paid agent of the Israeli government and did not disclose same.

Forget his “opinion” on the issue. He is a propagandist at that point. That is the LITERAL definition of the word.

I haven’t seen that debate, but I’ve seen him debate others on Israel. His opponents sometimes do not know what they’re talking about. Speaking of his own firsthand knowledge helps strengthen his own arguments. Basically a guy who has firsthand experience in the region vs people who get their arguments from Twitter.

For example, one opponent was bashing Israel for closing its border with Gaza. But the opponent either didn’t know or refused to acknowledge that Egypt has done the same thing. Basic important facts that are either unknown or unacknowledged. If you only get your knowledge from the liberal media, you probably wouldn’t even know Egypt has a border with Gaza, much less a closed border.

Andrew Dice Clay had a saying back in the day.

Can't remember what it was right now.
