Hey guys I am looking for information about the old Tulane Stadium on Willow Street for a project I am working on. I have built a complete 3d model of the stadium and posted walkthrough tours on youtube to share it with others. I'm looking for feedback on things I need to adjust as well as information about some of the details on the place that I am fuzzy on.

If you find it interesting.. subscribe as I will be updating it as I improve it and add new videos. The goal is to provide an archive of everything I found while building it.

LASTEST VIDEO OF EAST STADIUM

If anyone wants a specific image or has suggestions or comments post them.. I really want more feedback.

Here are some samples of what I have so far...

NORTH GRANDSTAND MORE DETAILED
Added pay phones and accessories. Added lots of signage.

EAST GRANDSTANDS - WALKING TOUR - OLD TULANE STADIUM
Lastest cleaned up eastern core with improved lighting

EAST GRANDSTAND RAMP PLATFORMS
Cleaned up more railings and think its finally starting to look right.

EAST GRANDSTAND LOCKER ROOM HALL
This one is located behind the ramps. Not sure if the public could access it. Preparing for the locker rooms.

SOUTH SIDE OVERVIEW
A nice overview from a nearby tower.

Make sure to include lifelike models of John Gilliam and Tom Dempsey.

Also, if you want to embed a particular video, copy the YouTube url link and use the angle brackets < > on the menu to embed within.

That is great.. Its been 45 years since anyone has seen the parts of the stadium lost to time. Glad you enjoyed it.

Great job, OP!

I have many stories to tell but don't have time right now. I'm holding this spot and will add later.

My dad took us to a few games back in the day. I was 3 to 5 years old but have some memories. He loved to tell the story of having me in line for concessions, when I projectile committed into the back of the man in front of us. Almost knocked him down from what I’m told. Good times.

If you remember any details that I got wrong or right.. Let me know. There is not much out there about the old place to go off of.

Man this is awesome, incredible time and work you put into that. I find it interesting that the highest in the stadium, the press box was 86 feet. That seems pretty low for a stadium that size.

Thanks for the feedback. I think the stadium was deeper than most today are. But I agree compared to today 86 feet tall isn't much at all. I think if you measured to the top level of the pressbox on the photographer's gallery it was officially 90ft.

It's weird, back in 2014 I was struck by this urge to visit a stadium that had been gone since 1980 so I learned Blender and called the Tulane library and just went from there. Glad you liked.

Heres the current main walkthrough. Its a 7 minute tour of the stadium.

I think compared to modern day stadiums, it was interesting the way the accessories (vending etc) were an afterthought not a well-coordinated focus,

There was actually grass under the north stands and it was more like a carnival or local fair than what we know as a stadium today.

This is awesome. Great work. If you are looking for realism, the payphones look to modern for 1926.

Good point. The renders are less new stadium of 1926 and more old stadium of 1975 when it played its last Super Bowl. I figured more people today remember it as the old stadium of 1975 than the new one from 1926. Plus it was easier to find references to the 1975 version.

I called it Tulane Stadium 1926 to clarify which one it was. I should probably adjust my graphics. Thanks for the feedback.. I appreciate it.

Nice!!

You should do a series. Ebbets Field, Polo Grounds, Forbes Field, Crosley Field, etc.

The beer vendors at Tulane Stadium had a keg strapped to their back and poured beers at will in the stands.

They wandered through the stands with a plastic cup dispenser and the keg and a change purse apron.

“Cold beer here! Cold Dixie beer here!”

The smell of King Edward cigars with the attendant smoke lazily rising up towards the lights of a night game.

Good times.

Other people have actually done some of those.. I wanted to do Cleveland Stadium but the plans for it are very hard to find. I certainly want to make more lost buildings though.. Thanks for the nice words

Great thing to help the atmosphere.. I'll need to figure out how to add that.
I certainly tried to add the accurate New Orleans vendors of day past.

Do you remember where the Club entrance was by chance or what was under the concrete section? I have the ramps figured out but I don't know what really was in the front section..

Was it similar to the North and South where the vendors had little add on structures rather than it being built in the concrete part. Also do you recall if t was paved under te concrete core?

Thanks
