The political pundits and other so called expert prognosticators don’t know jack shite. They are no more qualified than you or I.
The whole video is fascinating but if you want to cut to the chase…
watch from 5:24 to 6:45.

Don't even need to watch, I know nothing in media is real. It's all propaganda for the sole purpose of shaping how and what you think.
This happened a long time ago.

All true. Clearly all of us are smarter than any single subset.

Well "trained" meteorologists get it wrong all the time.

Good find! Thanks for posting that.

That had nothing to do with the video, which was about how expertise is gained and why expertise is almost impossible to gain in certain fields.

My point still stands.

Why do we need meteorologists?

Was listening to a Hugh Hewit podcast where he was interviewing Thune on the shutdown. It was more pathetic than I expected. For some reason, I was expecting to hear the GOP strategy, how they were gonna decimate the Dems. Thune just repeated, ad nauseam, how he was waiting for the Dems to seize more opportunities on the CR. HH just wanted both sides to get a little, to save face, so that we could return to “normal” and get the government rolling again. I had to quit listening, so lame it was sickening.

Your point is correct, except for the implication that you already know what the video teaches. It is a very interesting video that shows which experts we should listen to and which ones’ expertise does not help them in their predictions.

Excellent video, and very true.
Recognizing patterns and repetition. Im an Auburn fan but I still can give greatness its due.
Was watching the end of a Bama game many years ago, they were up by four touchdowns, last play of the game and the other team completed a long pass and was tackled.
Saban was supposed to go to the sideline interview, instead he rushed on the field and just started chewing the arses of a couple DBs.
He then comes to the reporter who said "kinda hard on them coach it didnt matter". Saban glared and said "It WILL matter". Reporter said "Ah gotcha, practice til you get it right". Saban said "No....you practice til you cant get it wrong".

I disagree. People can be experts in a variety of fields. Look no further than our very own SFP.

Did I imply that? or did you strawman this to argue.

Why do we need meteorologists?
We've never needed weathercasters. Unless it's a major storm all we need to know is temp and will it rain. Which takes 5-10 seconds
Everything else is Pat Shingleton

I figured this out while in college.

Great video, I've been operating cranes at a port since 1985 and I think the most important bit of info here is that to become "expert" at anything one must be in an uncomfortable zone for thousands of hours. I try to tell young men who come to train it will take years to do what I can do.
It takes a bit of balls to even be willing to go up on the cranes so these are typically ballsy guys or guys who think they're ballsy. The failure rate is about 80% and I think I understand why after watching this.
I think most are NOT comfortable being uncomfortable and this is going to change how I try to coach new trainees going forward.
Thanks for posting this, I found it very interesting.
