I'd like you to meet the most desparate Dad in America, Mr. Gray. (Fibbing sons stats)

How you ask I stumbled across this? Well, I was looking at national leaderboards for passing yards per game to see Peyton Houston is likely Top 10 in country, difficult to tell because some states have already played 8 games & you can't order by ypg...
But, I stumbled across the same high school having 2 of the entire USA's Top 8 QBs in passing yards, averaging close to 900 passing yards per game individually and 1,700 passing yards per game as a team, despite only having played 3 games... while other states have played 8 games, and these 2 players on the same team just so happen to have the same last name. Ranked #4 and #8 on link
Meet Mr. Gray, and Jameson DeAndre-Gray (appears Mr Gray isn't quite the present dad which is typically what it means when a child chooses a double name, but hey, the other son retains just his last name):
LINK
Jameson DeAndre-Gray, #4 in the US in passing yards. His stats:
Game 1: 80 completions on 90 passing attempts, 960 passing yards on the game
Game 2: On only 6 points scored, he magically went 15 of 20 for 550 yards and just 1 TD
Game 3: On only 6 points scored again, he went 20 of 25 for 550 yards
Game 4: 20 of 40, 600 yards and just 2 TDs.
Notice how all of these stats in completions, attempts, and passing yards all conveniently end in either 0 or 5. His son must have OCD.
Now, let's go to his other son, Henry Gray, who is also attending the same high school in Shelby Montana who is also Top 8 in the USA in passing yards:
In 3 games on the same team as the other 700 yard per game passer, he has:
2,400 passing yards, averaging 800 passing yards per game, just like his brother. The team combines for 1,600 passing yards per game. In 3 games, he has 251 passing attemps, for nearly 85 passing attempts per game. His sibling has 175 passing attempts. So in 3 games, they have 430 passing attempts combined, averaging over 140 passing attempts per game as a team. Must be a prolific offense.
Shelby MT has lost 3 games at an average score of 50-7 on 5,000+ passing yards through 3-4 games. 21 passing TDs, when they have scored a combined 78 points through 4 games. Man, they are so good at moving the ball down the field with nearly 2,000 passing yards per game. They just can't seem to punch it in. 5,000 passing yards on 21 TDs is 250 passing yards per Touchdown. Every drive must've stalled out at the opponents 1 yardline. Shucks.
This is a Dad that wants his sons recruited so bad, and knows he can't lie about scores because local newspapers publish the scores, but probably realizes that they don't post individual stats. He saw an opportunity, and ran with it. I'd love to see his resume next

Maybe LSU should be looking at recruiting the OC

No, LSU should be looking at replacing "fans" like you with fans that actually know rudimentary football.

It’s amazing how many of the top QB’s on there are from Utah

quote:These are vintage Les Miles scrimmage stats
Game 2: On only 6 points scored, he magically went 15 of 20 for 550 yards and just 1 TD
Game 3: On only 6 points scored again, he went 20 of 25 for 550 yards
Game 4: 20 of 40, 600 yards and just 2 TDs.
quote:
The stats: LSU quarterbacks went 20-for-34 passing for about 200 yards in the scrimmage with five drops from receivers. LSU ran the ball for 193 yards on 42 carries. The Tigers scored five touchdowns in eight possessions, the coach said.
The QBs: Harris received about "a half dozen" more snaps with the starters than Anthony Jennings. The first string was expected to get about 50 snaps during the 100-play scrimmage, Miles said earlier in the week. No. 3 QB Justin McMillan went 2 for 3 and tossed a 50-yard TD. "Brandon obviously was a little bit more explosive. Anthony more veteran," Miles said.
quote:^that one is my favorite
Quarterback Zach Mettenberger throws five touchdown passes and the bevy of backs combine for 300 rushing yards, led by Alfred Blue and Kenny Hilliard.
Despite those numbers, LSU coach Les Miles says the Tigers' defense won the day
quote:Loved this one where the starters apparently stifled the offense and then Harris/Jennings lit the backups up for 500+ yards and 7 scores. Also, the ominous ending to the sentence
In a rare disclosure for the Tigers’ coach, Miles said Harris completed 12 of 17 passes in the scrimmage and that the quarterbacks passed for a total of 250 yards, seven touchdowns and one interception. Miles added that the offense totaled 270 rushing yards, led by sophomore Leonard Fournette’s 10 carries for 100.
As far as the defense, Miles said the starters didn’t surrender much on the ground or through the air and that the pass rush continues to improve under the guidance of new defensive line coach Ed Orgeron.

Surely the Montana equivalent of VSN or Crescent City Sports would take the opportunity to see these studs in action… years ago maybe you could get away with this, but these numbers are too absurd to not draw attention in 2025

I loved when he would say that they ran for 250 and threw for 250. Everyone knew the dude was lying.

Hold up there Cowboy, didn’t mean anything negative about anything I posted. It was sarcasm towards how Sloan needs to be replaced by lack of offensive output.
Not sure if any are aware but Maxpreps only posts the stats that are available from the teams that report to Maxpreps. There are other QBs in the country that aren’t reporting stats. It’s a glorified stat book that anyone can report on. Many schools don’t report to them.

I don't even see one Gray on the link, even when I filter Montana.

It got taken down bc they claimed 21 touchdowns when they only scored 78 points on the year. 21 touchdowns would be 126 points

I'm not sure about the HS football coaches in Texas, but the rest of the sports are required by the UIL to post on MaxPreps ($$$ for UIL) & the coaches hate it. Most will wait and only post scores and only until the playoffs. It's a difficult system to use too.
