In the last week I have seen 3 cars with their venmo accounts on the side and back glass asking for drink money for their honeymoon (which the date said was 4 weeks ago), for being a poor college student (driving an infinity suv) and no message at all, just "venmo me".

Contemplating putting one up on my car that says, "Kentucky Football Fan, running out of money for bourbon. Please help"

I'm always afraid when I venmo someone for the first time that I'm actually sending it to the wrong person. For example I'm trying to venmo John Smith and there's 20+ John smiths on the list: @johnsmith37, @johnsmith42, etc. Even though I've never sent money to the wrong person I still get irrationally worried every single time.

Hit them with a request rather than send and if they accept it sends you the money.

Are you venmo'ing random men or am I reading that wrong?

Nah, that's pretty much the definition of trashy.

It should be asking you to confirm by entering the last four of their phone number, which prevents mispayments from happening

No, not random men, lol. It's people I know. For example I work with a guy who does a football board for every LSU game and I buy a few squares and I pay with venmo. But the first time I sent him a venmo I was paranoid that I sent it to the wrong person because there was several different accounts with the same first and last name. I know it's irrational but it happens every time. Unless their picture is on the profile then I'm good.

It does, but I still get paranoid because maybe I entered the wrong numbers. I know it's not rational. Like when I leave my house and 5 minutes later I feel like I left the oven on or something like that.

I know someone who put that on her shirt for their birthday in NOLA during a night out drinking. She showed me that she made more than $600. People would send larger amounts of money as the night got later.

I actually did that a few years ago- there wasn’t the 4-digit number thing to confirm back then. Think it was only 25 dollars. I reported to Venmo and Venmo sent that person an inquiry about it. Since they didn’t respond, they refunded me. But they gave them a couple weeks to respond to their inquiry if it was for them. I guess if they said yes I would have been out the money. Yes I always double check now.
