DMR will be directly hiring over 500 people

– DMR Technologies announced it will establish its first full-scale U.S. manufacturing facility in Lafayette Parish, where the company will produce and deploy its flagship Field Ranger X50 unmanned aerial systems (UAS) for the American market.

The company is expected to create 521 direct new jobs over the next 10 years with an average annual salary of $85,000, 151% of the parish average wage. Louisiana Economic Development (LED) estimates the project will result in an additional 766 indirect new jobs, for a total of 1,287 potential new job opportunities in the Acadiana Region.

They are going to have 521 jobs in a 10,000 sqft facility? Sum Ting Wong

I’m not saying that you can’t have a person in every 4’x5’ area, but that leaves very little space for desks, restrooms, machinery, inventory, etc.

I want to say that will be the interim facility. They're going to renovate the old reptile Tannery off of Pinhook near Freetown and the airport which is over 90k square ft but that's going to take at least 2 years.

Safe Source & RTL

I've done business with both of these companies in the past.....
SS Direct is owned by Ochsner and is the largest producer in the World of blue nitrile personal protection gloves worn in the hospital and by emergency personnel. Around the Covid time, Ochsner bought a glove production company in Birmingham, AL and then created the facility in Broussard. That facility produces over 100,000 gloves per hour. Last I heard, they were fixing to build a secondary facility in Broussard to double their production. I guess Ochsner decided to cut jobs and save $$$ .. sad for the local employees who were paid from $15.00 to $25.00 per hour to stack gloves and service the machinery.

RTL started around 1997-1998 and was owned by a father and son who were from France (Roggwiller family). During it's peak, RTL was processing over 250,000 hides per year at the Lafayette facility. 50% of the alligator hides were tanned in Lafayette, and the other 50% were packaged and sent to France for processing. After the hides were tanned and finished, 25% of the highest graded hides were purchased by Hermes. The other 75% of the hides were purchased by the Japanese for high end purses, wallets, belts, mostly for women. Hermes then decided to purchase the RTL facility from the Roggwillers, alligator hide prices took a drastic decline around 2009-2010, and the tanning facility eventually shut down.

how gloves are made..

Me too, I owned a vending route/break room business in Lafayette before I moved to Texas. It was more of side business I had. I tried several times to get a lot of the bigger businesses to sign up but never could.

I have zero clue about their pandemic forecast .... what I do believe/know is that Ochsner made so much money (gazillions) dispensing the vax shots that they decided to buy everything "medical" in sight as a future investment. That's why they own and bought out hundreds of walk-in clinics, doctors' offices, medical practicers, hospitals, and anything else they could purchase. They got paid extremely well by the Gov't, and their investments have yielded a crazy ROI since medical billing costs have gone through the roof.

check out these Ochsner Health Systems numbers:

2015 - 15,000 employees, 13 Hospitals, 50 health care centers

2024 - 32,000 employees. 47 hospitals, 370 health care centers
