But it’s a two edge sword. It’s what keeps the Dems from sweeping legislative changes just like it stops reps from the same.

There are times when the filibuster has benefited Republicans.

It’s smoke and mirrors, it’s worthless. Then there is always some future hypothetical that MIGHT happen.

The Presidential veto is the constitutional check on Congress. If one party controls both, you get what you pay for.

The only thing I will say is that filibuster and 5 votes on the Supreme Court is the margin of protection of your 1st and 2nd Amendment rights. It's that narrow. The Wrong 55 people could take it all

It’s ridiculous because they will play either side depending on whether they are majority or not and blame republicans for the threat of shite down. Idiots like Shumer and Jeffries are on record taking the opposite position several times this decade.

I think it’s sad that both the political class and the MSM pundits class, both of which constantly lie about their true motives on practically everything, yet when it comes to to this item, people buy into the adage that it’s somehow saving democracy. Just believe what you’re told on TV. All because of what? Some movie from 60 years ago that made the filibuster sexi?

It’s time to look past what they want you to see. Trump is for dropping the filibuster, btw. Thune is not. That should be all anyone needs to know.

It’s supposed to bring about compromise, but there is no compromise today, just my way or the highway.

No it is one of the greatest and most well thought out parts of our governmental structure. Would be almost impossible to be a representative republic without it. No thank you to direct democracy/mob rule.

It's not saving democracy it's saving the republic which is the point that short sighted and ignorant cannot understand.

The filibuster is important.

Otherwise the policies and laws of the country would seeing wildly in one direction or the other when a president controls even slight Marjorie in the house and senate.

Remember bidens first term? Do you want dc and Puerto Rico to be states? The democrats do.

That's 4 senate seats that will be consistently blue.

And they're would have been 11 Supreme Court Justices. That could've been done.

Imagine the damage the democrats would've done if the filibuster was not in place.

But done even think of the damage that would've been done.

The massive swings in policy changes would be devastating to the economy of the country.

Filibuster stays.

It's important to keep it but the procedural filibuster needs to go. Make the opposition party hold the floor indefinitely and shut down the Senate altogether. Simply counting up the votes and moving on makes a filibuster too easy and too common.
