TSA Flight question with valid TWIC card

Do I need a “real ID” with TWIC card? My DL doesn’t expire for two years and didn’t want to deal with DMV if I didn’t need. I also think TWIC is good for for TSA precheck. I saw mixed reviews on google. Any information is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I had to use mine once and TSA had no clue what it was. Took me an extra 30 minutes for them to hunt down someone who knew what it was.

Just go to a title place or something and get a real ID. Takes 15 minutes

Yeah good luck. Didnt have a twic card but had my Federal CAC card I used in Hawaii one time. Thankfully had my passport because the TSA guard was clueless about what I gave him even though he had the same card on his shirt

100% the truth. And a surprisingly large fraction of these people are also shocked they already have a RealID but didn't know it

I only fly 2-3 times a year so had no reason to worry but I have 2-3 coming up shortly. I don’t watch news, have FB, or any of that bullshite. AI almost lets google be useless and tiger droppings can be decent source besides assholes like you.

When was the last time you went to the dmv or got your DL issued? Chances are they asked you if you wanted a real id and you told them no because it costs more and you needed more documentation than you had

In general it worked a few times, then stopped just FYI

That's assuming you are using the number on your twic card or cac card that folks used to say would go in that location

Two years (didn’t care about extra few dollars) and I didn’t know I needed additional documentations. I forgot about it to be honest. I’m not in a time crunch but if TWIC was all I needed, I didn’t really care about it until next time my license needed to be renewed.

Yeah thats typically what happens in my experience. Wife used to be a dmv in a rural location for about 2 years.
Basically, you can pray your twic number works when you enter it into KTN. Or you can suck it up and go through extra security and get anal probed by a big fat black lady at tsa....or you can get a real id

TWIC gets you TSA pre-check, which is nice, but if you try to use it as ID you probably wont get thru. use a passport if you have one. if you dont go get your drivers license updated

Tsa precheck actually issues a KTN. Now if you already have a twic or federal cac card, then i can tell you it takes a very short time to get approved for a KTN.
Took my wife (non-twic/cac) about two weeks...but for me (cac card holder) only took three days

That's good they fixed that if so. Lots of folks in Alaska had issues. Of course this was circa 2019-2021

No. TWIC card works as real ID. …but some of the idiots at TSA have no idea what a TWIC card is. I would suggest that you have the TSA sight pulled up showing a TWIC card is acceptable when you get in line

Considering how much of a pain in the arse it can be to get a TWIC, if you ask me, it should get you on a plane.

MSY clear/precheck lane can't accept TWICs. They have to scan them and the machine doesn't accept them.
Other lines can take TWIC.
Yes it is a real ID. Yes it will confuse TSA despite 20 percent od the S. La population having a TWIC.
