The guy is without a doubt an elite recruiter, probably the second best behind Kirby. I’d say he’s the 2A to Dan Lanning’s 2B

He’s also hitting the portal heavy and making the right moves. He’s smart enough to not waste time on an overpriced 5 star qb prospect like arch or DJ Lagway and uses the nil money for the trenches and key skill players. Get a decent qb in the portal and an elite o line

Boom.

Mario had Miami looking like the U of the 80s and is bound to win a natty I. The next 2-5 years

The problem is with him he’ll run the ball when you can knee the ball out to win and your rb will fumble and you’ll lose wondering why did we not kneel the ball

that is his weakness
But after 4 years of watching billy Gaypier coaching, Mario looks like prime Andy Reid in comparison

He’s great at talent acquisition. But I won’t believe he’s an elite coach until I see him getting done against elite SEC/B1G teams in the playoffs. You know he’s going to make some idiotic in game error when it’s all on the line.

that’s the key
He has a tendency to win a big game early in the year, like he did against Ohio state at the horseshoe in week one when he was at Oregon but he then fricked up the season either losing some dimbass game to cal/stanford by not kneeling the ball or just crapped the bed against Utah in back to back weeks.

I forgot how he messed up the Ohio state year but he always does something every year despite beating an elite teams arse early in the season

Miami is borderline officially “back” however we determine that I think that’s fair to say. Mario Cristobal is not in the ballpark of elite or he would have given cam ward a defense and they would have almost won a title last year. He is not on coach Os level yet

Just wait until he’s faced with a tough coaching decision like taking a knee and let’s see what happens.

Mixing Miami with a ton of NIL money will make anyone look like an elite recruiter.

Though I dont agree I was following along well until

They are paying Beck 4 mil a year and though he's played well thus far and I dont begrudge the move, based on his play last season and prior, he was the definition of what you say Cristobal doesnt waste time on, an overpriced 5* qb prospect.

I
He’s been known as a top recruiter long before then.

Just like Lanning was known as a recruiter at bama and UGA, before getting the Oregon resources
