It's too early to compare this team with the Epic 1980 Saints.

The Saints beat the NY Jets that season. That Saints team wasn't very good.
But it is too early IMHO to compare the 2025 Saints to the 1980 Saints. We should wait until the 2025 Saints win a game before we do that.

Yep, Saints fans had much higher hopes for the season after coming off of an 8-8 season in 1979. Saints were thought to be a playoff team going into the 1980 season.

True, it is way too early for that. But let's not forget the era of excellence that the 1980 team ushered in. Only 20 years after that single-win season, we edged the Rams for our first playoff win!

No comparison. 1980 Saints had a lot of talent, the team just went off the rails because of a terrible defense and half of the team being on cocaine.
